Not saying they played well, but their shoot put record doesnt matter. They score on their break aways, I'll take that over shoot out success any day. No shootouts in playoffs.

In fairness to DK, this is not necessarily him, but I read and or heard at least 3 columns or segments after the COL game that this team could make a real run or contend for the EAST. And maybe they could, but they’re at risk of not even getting there because of this OT/SO situation. The Islanders are (or were) 10-0 in OT. Which means if you were just regular bad, say 8-13 or 9-12 after regulation and they were just regular good, say 7-3, you’d be up 7 points on them and 9 on a playoff spot in general. And the system is fair, everyone has to play within it, but it’s also a gimmick to settle games that has nothing in common with regular hockey. The Pens are objectively, just look at the standings, THE HARDEST team to beat in regulation in the East. Fewer regulation losses than anyone in the entire league except Colorado and Dallas. And yet you may not make the playoffs. So, Mr Karlsson is right, it sucks.
That was one of the sloppiest games I've seen this team play they're extremely lucky they weren't on the receiving end of a 7-2 loss last night. Honestly 4 of the canes goals came from penguin mistakes they really have to clean that up very unacceptable to play like that in a game that means so much

Our defense played awful. Constant puck watching. Letting guys free near the crease all game.
Let alone that the Hurricanes forecheck was relentless and obviously was a point made by Brind’Amour to pressure our defensive guys to make them act quick to get puck up the ice, which they didn’t do well. Wotherspoon, Letang, Clifton all played their worst game of the season in this one game.
I'll take the point
I knew Brind’Amour was coaching a LeBron soccer team. That said, we played like the puck was a grenade and nobody wanted any part of holding onto it. We didn’t deserve the point EXCEPT, STUUUUU earned it for us. I do appreciate the resilience and fight from this team.
Hey DK, watching the last two games against Carolina, Pittsburgh cannot operate at their pace. But I did notice after about 30 minutes the Penguins started hitting and this is Carolina's achilles heel. It explains the results of the playoffs when the game gets into a grind. If teams keep it open and skate then watch out. Last night though, they deserves the props, but so does Skinner who gave up six and was the Penguin's best player. Let's face it, that was not a good game for turn overs! One observation from last night, it was a horrible…….horrible night for Letang. If he's tired, if he's behind the play, if he's turning it over, why pump him out for 22 minutes? We saw this decision making with Sully, and now Muse……..stop rewarding out of position, poor decision making, turnover heavy hockey….no matter who it is! The OT, Malkin and Rakell haven't a clue about positioning. They got a point on a night they didn't deserve so thats good, but sad that as soon as 60 minutes is over, you expect them to lose.
Hear ye, hear ye. Taylor Hall is dogshit. But let's be honest, the Hurricanes are not going to survive a 7 game series against ANYONE in a playoff spot this season. They have far too many blemishes than years past. Penguins blemish is 3v3 overtime and the shootout.

The constant diving was embarrassing for the hurricanes, the refs, and the league. The game turned into penguins couldn’t touch a player while the hurricanes played whack a penguin. I haven’t hated a team before but I hate the hurricanes after this cry bully hockey they are playing.
Sucks for the loss, BUUUTT that was a very entertaining game. Our Pens are a great team who can compete with the leagues best. Especially on the road! If (when) The Pens make the playoffs, it'll at least be 5 on 5 in OT with no shootouts! I like their chances better in that situation! Dont you?
DK – Do you think it's time to address the Letang problem? His decision-making has become a massive liability. I'm not trying to bash the guy, but it's a problem. I think it's time for a Girard (when healthy) or Shea pairing with Clifton for the 2nd pair, and let Letang take a lesser role.

Pens were awful most the night. Fact. I'm taking this as a huge statement though. Even at their absolute worst, the Pens are freaking dangerous. There will be no 3on3 or shootouts to save these teams from them if they make the playoffs.
Man Kris Letang… how can you have so much experience and look so lost on the ice 😬 literal pylon activity on the third goal Stu Skinner needed just a little bit of extra help last night but he got like 25 minutes of Letang 💔
The Refs pick up on it😡 They FAVOR certain teams! Just like in the NFL & YES they’re told which teams by the higher ups!!!
Either by just straight up telling refs or giving the refs “big hints” towards which teams🤷🏻♂️🤯🤬

Crosby didn't touch a guy and he got a 3rd period penalty that lead to a goal. Horrible call as well.
I'm starting to dislike Carolina. Can they stop trying to stick grab Penguins players and doing other sneaky garbage to get an upper hand everytime the Penguins play them, and instead just play hockey with skill and grit. They got too much skill on the ice to muck it up against a team in playoff position they are fighting against. Andre Svechnikov will answer for the cowardly stick hold and cross check he pulled against Crosby when they meet back in Pittsburgh. I can guarantee you that. There was absolutely no need for that. Svechnikov is a good enough player not to engage in such foolishness that could be better served with his strong on ice talent. Look Carolina played a strong game and are a strong team in general, but I don't respect in some ways the way they attempt to sway a game in their favor and then play victim afterwards. They are honestly starting to remind me of the early 2010s Flyers in that they'll bait you into getting upset but play victim anytime their is pushback. They obviously are not anywhere near as obnoxious as the early 2010s Flyers but they seem to be trying to imitate them.

OTLs are killing us. Most in NHL. 5-16 in OT. If we can just be .500 in OT, we're around 90pts rn.

Y'all need help. Canes historically are towards the bottom of the NHL on penalties awarded to them. The Penguins played an atrocious first half of that hockey game. Without Stu bailing them out it would not even be close. Hell they scored on YOUR powerplay. We can all agree across the board that the officiating sucks. But to say the Canes are "divers" or sell any more than any other team out there is crazy. Maybe if you didn't have a million offensive zone turnovers last night and didn't give up a SHG you would have won. Don't go bitching about officiating or the Canes because you've lost the last 2 games against them.
The NHL as a league will always be second tier, Crosby is back in his first game since the Olympics, gets slashed on the back of legs in front of the referee , no call. The NHL treats its Superstars , like they're 4th liners ! NBA , if a sniff of foul on Lebron James foul called , NFL if you were 1 yard from Tom Brady when he was passing the Ball, penalty flag.. NHL Bush League !

They have such a lunchpail team.. really Aho.. and i guess Javis and Staal.. the best players. Jimmybob, Stankoven and some others .. just throw it at the net hit a few skates and it goes in.

I appreciate your comments about the shootouts but Crosby, Letang and Malkin used to be better in shootouts. Malkin hasn’t been great in them in recent years but there was a season when he was almost automatic. I remember he did a spin-o-rama on Carey Price when they were still legal. I think that this whole shootout thing has gotten in their heads. The shooters look too indecisive and are trying to react to the goalie. I think the shooters should be ready to only have a couple of options selected before they shoot. Pick a move and go with it. Letang had two moves that he always used and he was pretty effective. Kunitz was the same way. They need a mental reset.
Dk I’m glad you brought up the Wotherspoon one, you can actually hear the refs response to wotherspoon on the game broadcast, he said and I quote. “Shut the F up and get in the box” he was more mad that wotherspoon dare utter a word about the call than to actually look at the mistake he made.

Yeah I've lost it with Carolina. They beat everybody in 82 games then fall off and forget how to play in the playoffs. Every year. And they do that stupid post-game gloat thing with the fans…..how about win a Cup first?
