Could the Chicago Blackhawks make a move for Matthew Knies? Jay Zawaski and Mario Tirabassi break down a potential trade scenario with the Toronto Maple Leafs, including what it would realistically take to get a deal done. They discuss possible prospect packages, roster players, and whether a move like this fits into Chicago’s long-term rebuild. Would the price be too high, or is Knies the type of player worth going after?

This is a lot to give up for Knies not sure I’m good with this. Is Knies Brandon Saad 2.0 which never worked out? Maybe pump the brakes here on him he is not Jason Robertson, Nazar is not going anywhere also.
NGL, if it took Levshunov to get a trade like Lev, a 27’ 1st & 27’ 2nd for Knies and Carlo, id take that and pick someone like Chase Reid to replace Lev’s rhd spot for the future. Carlo could pair with Del Mastro or Korch next season on the 3rd pair
As a Canadian Canadian living in Toronto, I’d be a great trade to get knives from Toronto
I’d argue Vlassic is an untouchable
No to Nazar in a Knies deal. We need more young players like Nazar and Knies. Any propect/pick I would make available for Knies outside of our 1st this year unless they did it straight up for him.
The untouchables for me would be Bedard, Nazar, Lev, Frondell, Vlasic, everyone else is on the table IF Knies is on the trade block
It's yet to be seen if/when Kyle Davidson will EVER make a deal for a LEGIT & SIGNIFICANT addition to the roster. I ask what of significance he has done of this nature in his 4 years???
If the Blackhawks take Morgan Rielly without any retention, it would cost significantly LESS.
When it comes to trading Lardis before we really know what we've got, I think back to the disastrous Phil Esposito trade, in the '60s. Even the Nick Schmaltz trade (not as bad as Esposito, but they sure would've liked having Nick, this season).
I'd be fine including Levshunov in a deal to acquire NHL talent and then drafting Verhoeff. They would be fine with Rinzel, Crevier, and a veteran stop gap on the right side for a couple years.
The no go guys are Bedard , Knight , Lev and Frondell. We have the currency/ cap space to get whomever
Bedard and Nazar are cornerstones of the top six. Frondell and Knies would be the power winger on the top two lines. Hawks have an abundance of forwards to fill in the top six. So, if the Hawks offered their number one this year, one top prospect and multiple seconds, they should be able to get Knies. Plus the still have cap pace to go after free agents such as Robertson is they wanted to.
not adding kantserov to no trade list is laughable
Kantserov, Lardis, Rinzel, FLA 1st.
Tor will want pieces that can help next year.
Use the likely top 5 pick on Reid or Verhoff to eventually backfill Rinzel's spot.
Boom
Youre both talking a little like Bowman, dont trade ALL THE FUTURE FOR ONE PLAYER!
There is only one person I would really want on the Maple Leafs and that is Matthew's. Get him.
They could probably go out and get Matthew's AND Robertson.
Agree with Jay. If it takes Nazar, you have to do it.
