The San Diego Gulls fell 5-1 to the Colorado Eagles on Wednesday night at Blue Federal Credit Union Arena. Colorado jumped out to a quick lead, striking just 26 seconds into the game before adding another at 4:22 to take a 2-0 advantage into the first intermission. The Eagles continued to pressure throughout the opening frame, outshooting San Diego 9-8 and setting the tone early.
San Diego responded in the second period, cutting the deficit to one at 8:55 when Sasha Pastujov buried his 16th goal of the season off a setup from Stian Solberg and Justin Bailey. Despite a stronger push from the Gulls, who finished with 27 shots, Colorado pulled away in the third period with three unanswered goals, including a power-play tally and an empty-netter. Alex Barré-Boulet led the Eagles with two goals and an assist, while the Gulls were unable to convert on four power-play opportunities in the loss.
