What do the Bruins do with Elias Lindholm? | The Skate Pod, Ep. 547

We break down the Bruins’ back-to-back overtime losses to New Jersey and Montreal. Was this a “good” road trip? Marco Sturm shook up his lines, but Elias Lindholm and Morgan Geekie continue to struggle. What do the Bruins do with Lindholm – both now and moving forward?

  1. Elias Lindholm is a horrible waste of money!!! health bomb him, trade him..whatever. Poitras is not the answer, he is worse than Lindholm and probably an AHL star but NHL flop.

  2. 13:50 it’s funny listening to both this and Morning Bru talk about “feelings” and how Razor came with the take that he doesn’t care about them.

Personally, it would’ve felt better if they lost in regulation against NJ but won against Montreal. Same result points wise but two wins and one loss does feel a lot better

  3. Poitras has shown he can play in the NHL. He accounted himself well in his brief call up. I'd rather see him on the ice right now than almost half the current forewords.

  4. I said from the moment Sweens signed Elias that its a Beleskey/ Backes signing that would be a future buy out. No one is trading for that contract even if he waived his NMC without sending a first round pick or more. Bench him until he asks out and send him as fast as you can.

  5. Boston Bruins 12 regular forwards

    Elias Lindholm 5×5 Ranks:

    11th Goals
    9th Points
    9th Primary
    Assists

    235 NHL forwards with 700+ 5×5 minutes

    Elias Lindholm 5×5 Ranks:

    214th xGF
    213th Goals
    193th Primary Assists

He's nothing but a faceoff specialist & powerplay merchant

If he didn't play with Pasta, Elias Lindholm would have maybe, 15-20 points

His compete level stinks, defensively he's been a minus player since the Olympic break

And speaking of the Olympic break, in the 11 games since, Elias Lindholm has a grand total of ZERO 5×5
    points

    ZERO!!!

Elias Lindholm isn't a great skater, he doesn't have even above average puck skills let alone elite ones, he's not tough to play against, etc…

What is he to the Bruins lately?

    An albatross, that's it

It's long past time to move Lindholm down to a less offensive minded, 3C role

He isn't driving play as a Top 6 player

Thus to maximize his value they need to reduce his 5×5 ice time, reduce his offensive zone starts & get him off power play #1

The reduced ice time & playing lower in the lineup would theoretically give Elias Lindholm a chance to produce more in matchups that should be more favorable to him

Continuing to allow Elias Lindholm to drag down anyone he plays with in the Top 6 & PP1 while he produces nothing offensively & continues to be a minus 5×5 player would be 100% counter productive to winning

When Hagans arrives I'd go with these lines…

    Hagans Zacha Pasta

    Geekie Minten Arvi

    Khusy Elias Middlestadt

    Jeannot Esyimont Kastelic

    Bench Steeves & Kuraly

If they don't want to disrupt the Zacha line right now… Go with

    Hagans Minten Pasta

    Middlestadt Zacha Arvi

    Khusy Lindholm Geekie

    Jeannot Esyimont Kastelic

In the off season they have to decide what Elias Lindholm is to them moving forward so they can make roster decisions that'll improve them demonstrably next season

No matter what he is next season, Elias Lindholm shouldn't be in their Top 6 or on powerplay unit #1

If he stinks next year too they'll have to at least consider a David Backes cut bait kind of move to get him off the team & to free up cap space

That'd mean a pick, a prospect & some form of salary retention

That'd be a steep price to pay but if he stinks again next year they can't continue to pay him $7.5M through 2031

They're not quite there with Elias yet & maybe he'd never waive his NTC or limited NMCs in the future but they may have no choice to but approach him with it at some point if he continues to be terrible

Elias Lindholm looks like nothing more than yet another Don Sweeney, outside the organization UFA fail to go right up there with the craptastic David Backes & Matt Belesky mistakes

Let's also not forget that due to Don Sweeney's crap drafting & developing at forward he had to overpay Elias Lindholm in both terms of money & well, term

65 draft picks across 11 drafts since 2015

Only ONE Top6-ish forward has ever been drafted & developed by Don Sweeney

    ONE!!! of 65!!!

Cry baby & the mentally weak Jake Debrusk, that's it

A player Don Sweeney let walk for nothing as a UFA after he ran himself out of Boston, the same way he's running himself out of Vancouver these days

39 Total Forward Draft picks across 11 drafts and again, Debrusk the only marginal Top 6-ish forward to show for it

So the Elias Lindholm UFA mistake by Don Sweeney…

110% the result of Don Sweeney's piss poor drafting & developing at forward

    Proof?

    Look Up😂😂😂

  6. Yah so funny how the Zacha / Mittlestadt / Arvidsson line was viewed as the "all the guys who will be traded at the deadline" line at the beginning of the year, and now they are the best line they have by far.

  7. I don't think they should play Hagens with Lindholm if they call him up. Lindholm sets a bad example with his lazy effort and should be benched. In the offseason he needs to be traded for cents on the dollar of bought out.
