If Pelley is allowed to escape any and all accountability, the REAL, problem(s) WILL remain. The CULTURE MUST CHANGE. There is no passion, pride or fight on this Team. First off guys no team is going to lay out their plan in details to the public , ' were gonna trade player x, y, z and we're changing the coach etc ' at most you get ' were gonna get younger ' , or ' we need bigger ' . agree GM and coach need to be replaced , as for players and free agents that's gonna be tough . Big names have no trade deals , with rising cap teams can hang onto good free agents . Hopefully for once they at least do things in the right order, new GM and let him hire the coach

Play the kids, start the search of a new GM and he can search for a new coach. Berube needs a specific type of roster to be successful. Certain coaches do not coach according to the team but expect the team to adapt to him. Mathews and Nylander have not been used properly within Berubes system. The new coach needs the skill to form systems around the roster. There is no one in Leafs upper management that have won a Stanley Cup and have the experience what is needed. Shanny made mistakes but his era was the most successful in Leafs modern history.

Macelli who is by far the best skater on the leafs creates space out of nothing, making it possible for more sluggish players like Matthews, to use their skills. The Leafs will have a lot of cap space to work with in the off season. How they use it will determine if MLSE thinks this was an one off misstep or if they are serious in rebuilding. Hopefully for Leafs' fans, management has a clear mandate to do one or the other.
