I get the idea….but really…he's supposed to what…..put his arms down quick to keep from just falling on him? He didn't "drive" him into the turf. Vikings fan…..I don't get a LOT of this stuff anymore.
What drew the flag was the part where he landed on him and drove him into the ground. Even if that wasn't REALLY what happened, you can see how an official might interpret it being that way. We have the benefit of dissecting it from different angles on replay, so you can second guess the call until the cows come home, but it's not a reviewable call. The new reality in the NFL is that quarterbacks must be coddled and protected. That's the way the cookie crumbled. Both teams will have many more calls this season that don't go their way. As a Vikings fan, I agree this wasn't an illegal tackle, but it is what it is.
I'm a Vikings fan & I've always thought this is a BS rule. The bodyweight thing is ridiculous. You can't play defense any more. This rule was created thanks to Vikings Anthony Barr's hit on Aaron Rodgers about a decade ago. BS then, BS now.

I disagree with this call as well. However, the refs were making terrible calls all game on both sides imo
that whole game was rigged for the lions then 1 bad call going the vikings way is "pathetic"
The NFL has decided that backup QBs are worse for the product than bad calls
he drove his shoulder into him- he could have twisted to the side- see it all the time. You cannnot land with your weight on QB
That’s a great tackle and didn’t land with his weight in the QB. Ridiculous F-ing nonsense. I almost ripped my TV off the wall watching this.
It wasnt
Its cuz he was hit when the ball was in the air. Way after he released it
The rules are ridiculous now but they are the rules. I just wish they were more consistent.
It said body weight
You guys are just mad the lions lost
We can take the flag off this if you guys admit that was opi from Williams at the end
The reason was that they saw helmet to helmet contact
Helmet to helmet
Even as a Vikings fan I can say that was not Roughing the passer

Bc he used all his weight when he tackled JJ McCarthy on the ground squishing him so the refs made a good call
Oh, now that it’s not Roger’s it should t be a flag? 😂
all these lions fans sayin the reffs were favoring the vikings obviously didnt watch the game
How is Justin Jefferson’s catch not a catch
The league is against the lions !almost every game reffs call some bs penalty
That was a bad call
Bs
I call BS!
And this is what people are paying to see. They might as well take them pads off and put on them flag belts because this is ridiculous.
That was a good call don't want lions getting to far ahead in division.
HORSESHIT.
