On January 6th, the Anaheim Ducks came into Philly with the mindset of taking liberties and “avenging” the way they were pushed around in Cutter Gauthier’s first trip to Philadelphia the year prior. Bobby Brink got chicken-winged early, leading to a rare Noah Cates fight. Jamie Drysdale got blind-sided by Ross Johnston. Jacob Trouba delivered a flying elbow to Denver Barkey. Radko Gudas (currently suspended for kneeing Auston Matthews) and Garnet Hathaway dropped the gloves.
With the Ducks now leading the pathetic Pacific Division, it’s now up to the Flyers to test just how “tough” the team that stole the color orange from them really is.

Charlie's defending of signing Dvorak is so disingenuous. How about this. They sign Dvo last summer as a stopgap for a 1yr term. Danny even admitted they overpaid for the term. You even reported this. Then, they play him all year with Zegras, bumping up his stats even tricking Danny into thinking hes decent. Then ALL THE PLAYERS THEY WERE TARGETING THIS SUMMER IN UFA RESIGNED AND THEIR PLAN WENT DOWN THE TUBES, Jonesy even admitted this. So they panic signed him way before they even needed to. Now theyre on the hook for 5 years with a NTC on a 30yr old C who has looked meh without Zegras to carry him.
I am still unsure what the Flyers have done to deserve the benefit of the doubt on any of the questions asked in response to the Keith Jones quote. They have bad at drafting and developing, exploiting their assets to their fullest, yet a team that hasn't been a consistent playoff team in 15 years is deserving of grace on their non-tanking strategy. The Flyers are not the Dallas Stars. They aren't the Carolina Hurricanes. Their front office has made huge mistakes. They screwed up the Cutter Gauthier situation. Danny Briere was with the team under Fletcher. Flahr who runs the draft has been with the team for 7 years and we are looking at underwhelming results on every level. The bulk of the Flyers front office has been in room when the team has tried and failed to contend over and over again. The talk about rushing the rebuild is gaslighting. They are the ones screwing it up and receiving minimal scrutiny. They drafted their version of Jalen Reagor and since he is not playing in the NHL, it gets treated as if there is still a chance he will be a star. His ceiling was always limited and the team is drafting for guys who should be filling out bubble NHL teams. Legit cup contenders have three+ lines of guys who would be on the Flyers first line.
Also, why is anyone mad at Cutter Gauthier? He made the right decision for his career. Clinging onto resentment over losing out on a 40+ goal scoring, potential center because the team was dysfunctional during the Chuck Fletcher firing period is embarrassing. They blew it. It sucks, but that's what happened. People should be mad at the guys who were empowered to not let that happen vs Cutter. Saving a year of control on Cutter Gauthier was not worth losing him.
