More TERRIBLE NEWS for Auston Matthews After Connor McDavid Spoke Out!

One hit during an NHL game quickly turned into one of the biggest controversies of the season. A collision left a star player injured and forced league officials to review the incident through the Department of Player Safety. The ruling that followed sparked intense discussion across hockey media, with analysts, teams, and fans questioning how suspensions are determined.

Connor McDavid later addressed the situation while speaking to reporters about the NHL’s disciplinary process. His remarks focused on the way suspensions are handled and why the system continues to face criticism every time a major decision is announced.

  1. You take drugs you're suspended the whole season you take a player out knee on knee 5 games suspension what a fucking joke matthew out for months

  2. I actually for once agree with Connor McDavid. Look at the data that Player Safety sees to make a decision. To me after Gudas did this at the Olympics to Sidney Crosby should have been taken into account. But the CBA plays a part in this too. An extremely complex situation.

  3. If this were the first incident, I can understand that there might be mixed feelings on the length of the suspension. This is not the first incident, nor the second, nor the third, or the fourth, it is the 5th time hat Gudas has been suspended, and the second time it has been against an elite player in the league.

  4. Awful LONG rant….fact is, Goudas made a DIRTY hit on Matthews. If it were up to me, Goudas would be gone for the rest of the season as well….and eye for an eye..

  5. Why is there no mention of the multiple suspensions. here is a summary. Summary of Suspensions:

    March 2026: 5 games (kneeing).

    Nov 2017: 10 games (slashing).

    Oct 2017: 2 games (interference – pre-season).

    Nov 2016: 6 games (interference).

Dec 2015: 3 games (illegal check to the head).

Suspension should not even be considered, he should be banned. Gudas is a danger others, and there is a lot of money and career's in jeopardy. Matthews is a $13.5 Million per season player, earning 4 times as much as Gudas. Matthews will miss 25% of the season, equivalent to $3.5 Million.

When players talk about having to take discipline for these acts themselves, this is a serious problem, there is no trust in the league to protect them.

  6. There is little respect in hockey. Used to be that your whole team would stand up for you and take out a repeat offender like Gudas. Its honestly shocking nobody went after him… pretty much sums up the Leafs. NHL officiating doesn't help… it only encourages this sort of behavior. Players should be given lost games in proportion to the time lost by the player who was intentionally injured. Someone needs to take out Gudas… permanently.
