Zayne Parekh showed multiple times this game how skilled of a skater he is, which I don't think people point out, it's a bit overlooked. He doesn't have explosive speed due to his style, which you may think is a knock on him, but he is just so smooth. His edgework and ability to pivot is absolutely elite.

Happy for the Wings, but I just tuned into the Aves (wearing their old Nordiques jerseys) playing against the Penguins, and guess who just scored for the Penguins? Elmer Soderblom. Why did we get rid of him? The guy is nearly 7 feet tall and I thought played and more effective than Michael Rasmussen. What is Stevie Y doing? Soderblom is on a better team now. Pretty sure that if he stays healthy, he can only get better. Soderblom played fine last year for the Wings. Rasmussen's been playing for the Wings for several years now and is, without a doubt, as ineffective as he was when he started playing years ago. Why is Stevie Y holding on to Rasmussen? We've got to weed out these players who've signed for millions a year on a contract, sort of like Stevie Y did for Rasmussen, and release them since they're not playing to the Wings' expectation. Rasmussen cannot be missed, especially after this game against the Flames. Somebody needs to tell Stevie Y to stop signing ineffective players to multi-year contracts, like what Yzerman did for Rasmussen. Rasmussen should've been gone a long time ago, probably about the time the Petry Maatta left. Rasmussen is 6ft 6in, and plays like a prima donna. Almost never hits or checks while they have him on the ice. He won't even go in front of the opposing goalie to screen shots. I like Faulk so far, but we seemed to have given up a lot for him. Hope he continues to play well. I just don't like the idea that we got rid of one of the tallest players in Soderblom and didn't give him half the chance to prove his worth, compared to the time the Wings have given Rasmussen. Get rid of Rasmussen once and for all. I could think of at least a few players with GR who could be more effective than Rasmussen. Rasmussen isn't worth the $2-3+ million a year Stevie Y signed him for. Wings need to let Rasmussen go.
