  1. They have a -2 differential–they've had a single-digit score differential the entire season. This isn't really properly characterized as a collapse as much as it is a correction.

  2. Good grief you people are wimps. You give up on the Wings SO EASILY. There’s a lot of hockey left, and you’re gonna throw in the towel because the calendar says March — as if each year is completely the same and nothing ever changes.
Ridiculous. Go stick your head in the sand, and we’ll let you know when the Lions start.

  3. I think its a blessing that copp is out. Hes been useless again since the olympic break. Hes been invisible. John leonard is a huge upgrade over copp. Also dries is a fighter and can score. Hes better then rasmuseen. And tralmaks can rip it. And nygard once he scores that first goal it will.lift his confidence. We are a better team with nygard and leonard over copp. Cant replace larkin but the rest will help larkin. Pittsburgh is without crosby

  4. You've got a bunch of issues going on in Yzerman's tenure.
    1. Holland left a dumpster fire. A minor league system completely bare.
    2. Bad lottery luck. That is huge. You need a superstar. Larkin ain't it. Raymond ain't it. Seider is the closest thing to it, and even he ain't it.
    3. No significant free agents are coming to Detroit until we start winning and even then we'll probably need to overpay.
    4. Other teams value their centers/top players, as they should. You're going to pay a king's ransom for a good center. Really for any significant piece.

Put all those together and you've got Yzerman picking through the bargain bin for the Copps and Comphers of the NHL.

He's drafted well for the positions he's been given, but until we get all these you guys up here, we're stuck in limbo.

Hate to say it, but they may need to move Larks eventually to get a good prospect. On a true championship team, he'd be slotted on the 2nd or 3rd line and help push a contender over the top.

  5. The red wings in march make me want to do a call back to that “make a wish kid” comment from a few weeks back. IYKYK

  6. Let's say Stevie did go out for Robert Thomas and traded the 4 equivalent of 1st Rd picks they were asking for. Say they moved a combination of Danielson, Kasper, Bear and a depth prospect. Then they get Faulk with the 1st and Buchelnikov. 1) Do you think Thomas and Faulk make this a cup team now? 2) If they empty the cupboard and push all to win in the next 2-3 years with a Larkin and a Thomas combo you better win because after those 3 years you now have no prospects again and essentially have to restart the rebuild. We do not have the depth yet to start trading away our good prospects to win now it's going to set us back even further.

  7. The wings are playing against also really good teams. And.we are doing fine. You are going to lose games. We also have 3 wins since olympic break so we arent playing bad. Copp injury is a blessing. We have those gr players who are way better then cop. all you oscar the grouches chill on the couches . John leonard is way better then copp .eye test shows that. And we have a backup goalie that gives up 4 goals no matter when he plays. There is no way talbot should on this team. We got two goalies at GR with amazing stats. They earned a look

  8. To be fair they can't really call up anyone from the AHL team because all their young centers there are injured right now (Danielson & Lombardi). Genuinely probably the unluckiest injury bug stretch I've ever seen.

  9. Yes, for one simple fact. Our center depth is an embarrassment.

He has had 7 years to find Dylan Larkin some help.

1st it was Copp, then Compher, Suter was in there somewhere.

Now we have Kasper and Danielson.

Two guys who will make great 3rd and 4th line centers.

    The rebuild is a failure.

Since taking over, Steve has drafted two great players in Seider and Raymond, and one good so far in Edvinsson.

We didn't need the toughest guy Conner Bedard has ever played against in juniors against high school kids.

We needed someone to put the puck in the net.

Maybe they top out at Darren Helm, but I'm thinking we have another Joe Veleno on our hands.

    This is a disaster.

  10. Still too early to completely bury the Wings, but Larkin and Copp being out for at least two weeks looks pretty bleak. Some of these AHL guys really need to step up big time in order for them to have a chance.

  11. "Where are the reinforcements in Grand Rapids???" – they are all injured as well or else you'd have Danielson + lombardi lol

  12. If they dont step up and get it done trade everyone except Seider. Raymond needs to prove he can be the guy or its time to move on.

  13. Yeah I'm just tired of this, don't care anymore at this point but Yzerman isn't going anywhere. I'm not giving them a pass are you effing serious?! Given them a pass for 9 years EF THEM yeah I'm with Mike apathetic.

You would think with Raymond , Debrincat and Sieder they could get it done but they won't and Kane? That dude is COOKED. 😅

  14. After listening to this radio show about 5 or so times, I’ve come to the conclusion that these guys don’t really get hockey.

Not only that, but it’s pretty clear utter negativity is what sells ad space today. There isn’t an iota of hope or positivity in you guys, that is unless it’s all an act.

And by the way, you don’t bring up your goddamn first and second liners from Grand Rapids because they’re having a historic season and you don’t want to f up their chances at winning the Calder by risking all their studs at once. And if Nate Danielson wasn’t injured he’d likely have been called up. Do you guys do any research at all?

  15. IF they miss the playoffs again, I'll be more pissed knowing SY stays than actually missing the playoffs. "Hockeytown" my ass!!!

  16. You 3 do the most crying. Let off the panic button. What GM out there are you going to go get that is "MORE" qualified than Stevie Y ? It's easy to b*tch up a storm, what's your solution smart guy ?

  17. The Detroit Lions fans make the same argument every year for the last 69 years. It was the injuries. Basically living in an alternate universe for the simple fact you are not good enough, nor will you ever be.

  18. I half agree. They are in the hardest conference and division in hockey. It’s not even close. If they were in the west they would have a 16 point lead for the 8 seed. Plus their schedule is one of the hardest in the NHL. I know it’s excuses but it’s reality and it does count for something. They could have gotten a center though even before the 2 injuries so I’m partial and steve gets one more chance.

  19. Well 5 hours later and they got housed by Tampa, so yeah pretty much same collapse.

  20. The DRWs will not make the playoffs because they don't have enough good players. Larkin is a good player, but he would be the third line center on a contending team. Kasper is ok for an upcoming young center. But, that's the rub…he's young. SteveY picked Copp and Compher off bad teams fourth lines and over paid them, but they're fourth line centers and not very good ones. And Rasmussen is a big 6 foot 6 inch center who doesn't use his size to push people; he can't skate; a bad stick handler; and he's a wimp. Has he ever stood-up for a team mate?? Has he ever been in a fight?? He sucks. Let's hope off- season trades see Trocheck and Pettersson in a DRWs winged wheel.

  21. This week is the toughest week on the schedule. Tampa Bay will be in the Cup Finals, but they will get waxed by Colorado or Dallas. Next week should get easier. Where are Rasmussen and Compher, 2 seasoned vets.
Maybe Yzerman shouldn’t have traded for aging damaged goods.

  22. I would have given up 3 1st rounders and prospects for robert Thomas. The wings have no centers in the system coming up anytime soon and there are no Centers in free agency that will be that kind of difference maker until at least 2028. There is no hope for giving Larkin a break. They needed to make that trade. They needed to take that chance.

Yzerman may have missed the train to June hockey.

Yzermans goal should have been giving Larkin a damn break. Give him another center that is anywhere near his level. Give him some competition for his position. Larkin is basically begging for another center that he is actually afraid of losing his spot to. Hes basically saying please Yzerman make me look like a 2C. Give me a Fedorov, give me a Robert Lang at least ffs

  23. They sure haven't looked solid as of late. As a huge wings fan in the 90s this team is not anywhere close to Championship hockey. They aren't gritty or tough enough. Even with it being a bit different game today. Larkin is like a Shanahan. When you had an Yzerman, Federov, Hull, on and on. Plus you had the Burr ,Draper, Maltby. The guys who punished the other team just for showing up. We seam to have none of that. There are a few bright spots out there, but too few to push quality teams. With Larkin out the team almost looks lost, and they are definitely playing soft.

  24. Beans that we all know the season is pretty much over there is a positive note going into the off season. The trade that will be going on this summer will change the face of most teams. Rumors heard through their ages that's auston Matthews /Connor McDavid / Conor bedard/Robert Thomas / Jason Robertson. These are all players who will either be traded or their contract is up

  25. Fucking red wings. Same old shit different year. This yzerman plan is just stupidity at this point. I’m so tired of every Detroit pro team never spending to win. NEVER

  26. Terrible roster construction combined with an unwillingness to take risk preferring to “play it safe” on short term contracts for old and pointless players to act as filler has finally caught up.

Welcome to the mushy middle, a team that will never be good enough to win it all, but never bad enough to get a Celebrini or Bedard, just a mid to at best a first round exit squad.
