    It's called the appeal to authority. It's a logical fallacy that we all fall for. Once people figure out what it is and how to identify it… Many of these people will be able to root out the good content creators/influencers from the bad.

    Let's just take a moment: it's not even that they gave him the PhD with that thesis. Is that the entire thing was even allowed to be investigated in the first place. Like, WTF is that topic. How did anyone approve of that being PhD worthy to begin with?

    Also, IQ is a silly metric that everyone uses wrong most of the time.

    Nailed it on the head what experienced in engineering at my school, everyone memorizing things to pass the test but no one actually understanding. I use to study with friends and they would tell me I was wrong because their solutions manual said otherwise, yet they couldn’t explain why I was wrong whereas I could demonstrate why I was right and they were mis interpreting the manual. Public school doesn’t teach you how to teach yourself things, just re-enforces memorization learning 😔 or at least that was the case when I was in school I would hope maybe it better but I haven’t seen to the contrary.

    Wife did a masters, not me. Anyways, formatting, getting the tables and figures correct, and so on – what seems like minutae – is such a part of it, that to see all of those errors makes me suspect of how much it was really read over. For a masters (so i assume a phd level thesis), each individual part was picked over and edited to death. Its not like an assignment you work on yourself and hand in. His board is to blame.
