This call was total crap

Nathan MacKinnon got a pretty bogus ejection in Tuesday nights game against the Oilers. That and more in today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. As an oilers fan this was a bad call nurse left MacKinnon with no where to go but through Ingram. Hope it was worth it Nurse 🤦‍♂️

  2. So now thats its been a day since the video went up. The league has revoked the penalty into a minor to prevent him from being suspended if he were to take a major in another upcoming game.

  3. mac's line into the blue paint.. analyze.. if that your teams goalie that is out by someone hitting the BLUE PAINT STUPIDLY you would expect a game. I was iffy until I saw him NOT MISSING THE BLUE PAINT.. BEING STUPID AT HIGH SPEED INTO A GOALIE ! goalie was bleeding. cannot leave that not a misconduct.. in fact the NHL – just do not call out refs – better have better 'reflex to those calls in playoffs… you do not want to loose your playoff goalie to intently entering the blue paint. should 3 games or series ! if ingram was outside the blue.. maybe.. but he was in the blue paint. that is protected area – wrong line ..with intent and should know better. that is what hockey people see. wrong line – you pay !

  4. Gotta disagree on this one. MacKinnon got a two for one there in terms of getting his hips into Oilers' heads. With his speed and direction he was crashing through the crease by design. Yes, contact w Nurse didn't help and definitely pushed his path even more towards Ingram, but he was out of his lane here regardless making for an ugly collision that caused an injury. It was a dangerous play because of his actions. Saying Nurse shouldn't have been trying to defend against him because MacKinnon chose a risky path is a weird take.

  5. As a oiler fan I agree is could be a two minute penalty but if Darnell Nurse is not defending than half of the oiler group going say “Darnell Nurse is bad defence*

  6. I think 2 min for goalie interference is fine. Intentional or not, goalies have to protected. The argument can then be made that nurse should sit for 2 for tripping.

  7. Watching the overhead, Nurse is almost a non-factor in the equation. Mac is heading at high speed for the blue paint, his trajectory is a straight line, and it’s heading for the goalie. The contact warrants the penalty, but the point of contact is why theres a misconduct. All around hits to the head are being taken seriously, as they should be. Let this slide, and the Bennetts of the league will be decapitating goalies everywhere. Good or bad, the call is necessary. Either that or bring back old time hockey and let Nurse level Mac off after tossing the gloves aside.

  8. Nurse redirected MacKinnon's path I believe no penalty should've been called on him however Nurse should've gotten 2 minutes for tripping.

  9. All anybody really needs to know is the NHL itself rescinded his major penalty and ejection. And cry or argue all you want but the NHL itself admitted it effed up. Also anytime Kelly Sutherland is a ref for Colorado I'm going to bet against Colorado. 3-12in the last 15 he's reffed for the Avs. Gotta find his burner FanDuel account.

  10. That's exactly how I used to run goalies. Did it all the time. Drive hard, feel the defenseman inevitable push, then go soft, don't avoid/direct toward goalie. Sometimes even lift my legs so the hit on the goalie was real hard.
Honestly, most often the defenseman pushing me got the penalty 😂
Only the forward really knows if it was a good call. Nobody else.

  11. Honestly we may not like it, but its an easy call to make. You can thank Sam Bennett for these kinds of calls. You just can’t be running the goalie no matter what now.

  12. A players gotta be responsible for where they are. Can't just go barrelling through the crease from a small bump. Same thing with hitting from behind, it's a dangerous play that needs precedent to protect the blue paint.

  13. Nurse is playing the puck, he's the only one who touches it. MacKinnon makes the initial contact with his hip hitting Nurses head so by every definition MacKinnon is the checker in that interaction. So it doesn't matter that the contact with Nurse redirects MacKinnon more into the goalie, MacKinnon as the checker is responsible for his body placement. This is absolutely goal tender interference with zero question, anyone who argues different is acting in bad faith. The only question is two versus five. If the first shot of Ingram after this hit wasn't blood pouring out of his head they would have left it at a two, the five was absolutely a reaction to the apparent severity of the injury.

  14. A big indication of it being a bs call is that no one jumped Mackinnon. Unless you see someone get jumped, most likely whatever happened was an accident.

  15. Injury on the play was the only reason it was a 5. Mac took a bad line. The game misconduct is just a formality
