@Anaheim Ducks

Suspend him, please…

The Anaheim Ducks came out flying against the Toronto Maple Leafs, getting goals from Ian Moore and Pavel Mintyukov while Beckett Sennecke made his presence felt all over the ice. Cutter Gauthier added to the offense as Anaheim built a 3–1 lead behind Lukas Dostal, but the game flipped after a major penalty to captain Radko Gudas. The Leafs capitalized with three power-play goals, including one from Auston Matthews, completely shifting momentum. Former Duck Bo Groulx also scored, and despite a late goal from Alex Killorn, Anaheim fell 6–4 as Toronto snapped its eight-game losing streak. In this recap, we break down the Ducks’ strong start, the controversial hit, the power-play collapse, and what it means before their next matchup with the Ottawa Senators. #nhl #hockey #anaheimducks #torontomapleleafs

  1. Can the ducks appeal the suspension and make it through the playoffs? I don't know what is worse though. That we know he costs us everytime he's on the ice, and yet he still has the C and is never benched. This the same as the last two coaches we've had. But Veterans.

  2. From dominating to capitulating in the blink of an eye.. i hope Carlson is ready and steps in for Gudas, cuz Helleson sure aint cutting it. We likely would be a better defensive group with Carlson over Gudas, and definitely better offensively. Sennecke was trying to do too much all game, but then again, he was saddled with the McT albatross so…. At least we have a coach that can likely get this group to refocus quickly.

  3. After that hit and with the suspension personally I think Verbeek shouldn't resign Gudas and find a new captain after this season

  4. Gudas gat the 5. If he was a repeat offender it could’ve would’ve been a 10.

    Like Dangle said, what Gudas did, is what generally will happen. They won’t go after Gudas but they (other teams) will after other players on the Ducks just to send a message. And that’s too bad. Such a boneheaded move by RG.

  5. Watching the first period, all I could think was this is a playoff team. The dominance was impressive.
    Then the Gudas hit flipped everything … horrible.
    Really worried about the home game against the Leafs. Don’t need our stars getting hurt because Gudas was so stupid.
    Kinda pathetic none of the Leafs stood up for Mathew’s.

  6. I saw the Flames become snakebitten by the hockey gods when Giordano knee checked Bobby Ryan and Cam Fowler in separate seasons.

    I don't know what Gudas was thinking, but the Ducks don't need that kind of bad juju.

  7. Everything has been said and I agree 100%. Feel sorry for Matthews and hope he gets well soon. How does Ratko still have the C…?

  8. As a Sharks fan I can only say He should've gotten more.

    The sad thing is ,no one from the team did anything. They "didn't saw anything" and just turned away. Every other team would jump in and take care of this guy. But the Leafs? No "we didn't saw anything." When this guy comes back he will continue with his hits and act like "It was an accident" .

    I feel really bad for Matthews. I hope he gets well soon.

    And If he plays against the Sharks and touches Celebrini, I hope/ know the team would go after him. He thinks he can hurt the star players and get away with it? Maybe with the DoPS, But not with most teams. Please let the leafs take care of this Guy when he plays them again.

    He shouldn't be in the league.
