Huge thank you to Grant for joining us! Make sure to go subscribe to HabsCast HERE: https://www.youtube.com/@recruteshabscast?sub_confirmation=1
They didn't make a trade for a goalie, they didn't make a trade for a top 6 forward, they didn't make a trade for a Solid RD… It's cuz they all have them and will mostly like be called up near the end of the season if the Habs clinch early. Subban came in in 2010 and was the best D man in the series all over Crosby in the second round. Maybe all this will work out. I called it last year that Dobes and Fowler will be the goalies, but Dobes will want to get trade t obe a #1, or #2 behind abet not a younger goalie eventually that will happen.
Great episode guys. Grant was a perfect touch. Thanks
reinbacher doit monter aussi mais le peewee coach joue juste a une ligne donc y jouera pas jamais…
Josh & Jesse you weren't born yet but as young Hab fans who know Hab's history, look back to 1986. Hab's won the Cup with no less than 8 rookies. So don't be surprised if we do well 40 years later in this years Stanley Cup Playoffs. 😃
FOWLER IS OUR FUTURE
Jesse you did a good job keeping the conversation going , good energy , keep it up
Good job guys; nice to see Grant.
Way to sweep that awkward start under the rug fellas 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 love our boyz at habs digest 🔵⚪️🔴
I'm with Grant , don't like the do nothing would prefer selling … He actually mentioned what I was thinking quietly , what could we get with Carrier as a RD and free up some ice time and money … Though I like Carrier so feel mixed
Encouraged to hear about Reinbacher , he and Hage I just want them physically ready, don't need them getting injured because they need to build up strength
Imagine Demidov, Kapanen, Dobes, Fowler, Reinbacher, Hage, all rookies possibly experiencing this Habs playoff run… What a difference a week makes! (and a couple of Sophmores with Hutson and Bolduc)
@matthewsecord7641 I agree with u I just don't see arber in mtrl as long as st Louis Coach. You can't play n learn if u don't play. Make bad plays untimely penalty u get benched then u are put in press box for few games what is the issue. You see carrier matheson ect make bad decisions n not get benched or put in press box. Like what gives
If Reinbacher can stay healthy the rewards will be great. It's a BIG IF though IMO.
Jesse…. dude…. broadcaster and audio engineer here… Luv ya, man, but that microphone you have is very sensitive and designed to pick up sound from a foot or two away. When you put THAT kind of mic so close to your mouth, it means distortion and pops/plosives which makes the sound hard to listen to. Back off at least a foot away from the mic and it will sound SOOOO much better!
The only issue with Grant's comments on right side D, is that Engstrom has played there pretty much his whole pro career. As for Robinson playing on the right side, I would say Engstrom is a better skater than Larry was and that's probably why he has had an easier time on the right side than most LD. Not saying Larry was a poor skater, just calling out that Engstrom is a way above average skater.
Wicked having Grant in guys!
Love the McCagg collab. Idk wtf happened with Sick but my guess is he's under an NDA because it seemed super weird.
I wish Grant the best and am glad you guys are getting his takes. I've followed Grant since the HFboards days 20 years ago.
Over the last 3~ years especially I've been blown away by some of his predictions, picks, the whole nine yards. This is when he really started to get things right imo. Habs should bring him back into the fold, he can help them. I suspect he could once again be a scout for an NHL team.
He called it on Slafkovsky. He called it on Sennecke going sooner. I'm pretty sure he even called Reinbacher going early potentially to us. I can't remember them all, and there were some misses, but very few in recent years. Keep it up Grant!
Great video, nice blend of young and old Habs knowledge.
McCagg apparently hasn't paid attention to the TOI that Whitecloud has with Calgary. With both Andersson and Weegar moved, they were not trading him. Gonna have to look elsewhere.
One of you guys really likes to talk down hill and not let Grant in the conversation. Not cool goatee guy. Like hearing yourselves talk a bit too much
But Engstrom prefers playing the right side. Yes, he is left handed but he played rd in Europe and earlier in Laval. That’s part of why he wasn’t paired with Reinbacher. He is ready to play RD for the habs in the playoffs
Lets get real with Micheal Hage. The Wolverines finished ranked #1 after the season headed into conference Championship playdowns. Then he will be off to the Frozen Four. If Michigan U make it to the Championship game it is played on April 11th in Vegas. The Habs will be playing their 3rd last game followed the next day (Apr 12th) & final 2 days later the 14th. What happens if Hage and team win the National Championship? Will he celebrate with all his team mates??? Would the Habs waste a full years ELC for 1 game not to mention would they feel comfortable having him play playoff games so green?? I feel unless Michigan go out of the Frozen Four early then maybe we see Hage this year in Montreal. If they make it anywhere near the semies of the Frozen Four I believe we see him ONLY at training camp next fall
Their drafting has been so solid the last few years and has produced the happy ‘problem’ of having too many NHL-calibre players, which will inevitably result in having to trade some of them to give opportunities elsewhere, while at the same time restocking the draft and prospect cupboard, leading to sustained success and competitiveness… 😎 The next decade or so should be fun! 😃
Tribacher had a brutal turnover last game. Brutal. And those are actually still happening. Regularly. Had to clean up that decision making. Not ready.
Guhle might be part of a package in a blockbuster trade. Room for Engstrom and Reinbacher if so.
Love Mc. He’s not overripe. He just committed an egregiously horrific turn over midway through the first period last game. And frankly these are not rare errors. He’s not overly ripe. Love his upside. I’m a believer. Unwanted bum drafted. But he’s not ready. Not yet. He’s going. To make way too many errors if called up. And not win enough hoard battles near his own net. Facts.
Hage is turning into the stud hopped and predicted. Killing it
Isn’t Dsch playing hit and miss shift to shift? Or am I mistaken?
Let’s not forget how much Dobes game continues to develop also. Great pair. Monty will be kart of an off season trade, will be not?
I trust Grant's draft talk, but man you guys did very well with him as a guest imo.
guhle gonna have injuries so engstrom will play on the left side. important to keep a good player available when you have injuries prone guys
I am soooooo happy the bobrovsky talk ended up being just that…. Talk!!! I have full faith in dobes and fowler
We really don't need more offence from the blue line. The Habs need a steady presence who can control the front of the net. I hope Reinbacher uses his size to fill this role. The playoffs will be a real learning experience for him.
Look for Struble and/or Xhekaj and/or Engstrom and/or Carrier to be moved in the off season. One or two of these will be part of that "significant trade" Hughes was talking about. All four would be an improvement for most team's defensive group.
Just want to point our "old man Dobes" is 24. He is still improving and still winning. Fans reactions to him seem to be like what Fowler said in his draft interview, people keep underestimating him but all he does is win.
With these three guys in the linup,we are in business in the playoffs!
D’ONT count on P. Lebrun for ANYTHING but rumors! He knws nothing and is never the first to break any news….none….
C’est le temps de trader Josh Patin de Fantaisie Anderson, Monty 😢, lazy Dach, Aber penalty box, pour Défenseur droitier ou un pick pour l avenir. Gally est nécessaire!🙏🏻
There’s been times I wanted to doubt Grant in the pass, but I can’t lie, after listening to this guys takes over a decade now, he knows his shit. Nobody is walking crystal ball, but he he has a good pulse for the team and prospects
I like Dobès very much. His technique has its fails, he constantly fights in his crest but in the end, he wins. I like his attitude and his combativity, and he certainly can be proud of his season so far.
Yet, I am convinced that Fowler will be the #1 sooner or later, and for at least ten years. His calm, hi poise, his confidence remind me of Carey Price. He has everything it takes to succeed in this league, and his technique, despite his young age, is almost flawless.
Florian could be our next Mario Tremblay
It’s awesome that every position of need for Mtl we have as prospects, Fowler, Hage and Reinbacher/Engstrom.
Big Tex needs to play every game possible
