The funny thing is everyone keeps talking about needing star talent…and then they want to trade Tippett who outshined Hughes and kaprizov last night and has elite level size/speed
The problem is by not doing a real rebuild they made it so that there can’t be a hiccup. every draft pick had to go right. Every trade has to work.
I think a 1D is more important than a 1C. A 1D stabilizes the Defense, QB’s the PP, and will log 30 minutes a night playing against the top line. That’s why i wish the Flyers went after Quinn Hughes. I know it’s a risk if you don’t sign him, but there are only a few elite D in the game.
Look at what Pronger did as the Flyers went to the Finals in his first season. Look how Desjardins stabilized the D as they missed the playoffs the year before despite having Lindros, Recchi, Renberg and Brindamour. Look how Mark Howe was the best player on those great 80’s Flyers teams as he would go up against Gretzky, Lemieux, Hull, Bossy.
Until we get that 1D on this roster, this rebuild will be stuck in neutral. You find me a Cup Winner who didn’t have a 30 minute 1D on their roster?

Everybody is on michkov about not performing as well this year dude the kid isn’t gonna be a superstar his second year take Nathan McKinnon for an example. He did not become who he is until he played 4 seasons in the NHL… seriously he didn’t score more than 20 goals until then and he’s not the only player either let the kid cook not everybody is gonna be Sydney Crosby or McDavid and have a fire second season. It might take a few seasons.
The plan is flawed because we don’t have #1 center or defenseman, I don’t think we even have a second line center in our system.This draft has lot of skilled offensive defenseman and we are winning our way right out of a chance to get the defenseman we need. We don’t need another plain vanilla Cam York, we need a legit threat from the blueline.
Their using the same weapons of mass destruction lie again and the sheep will believe it again. And the sheep 🐏 believe (we) means them, smfh
1) Build from goaltender out.
2) Must have a defined team leader with star talent.
Flyers haven’t found # 2 yet and still don’t have enough good Dmen on the back end nor strength up the middle.
Still 3 years away if things go right to even have a chance for cup contention.
I think we can talk all day about it but bottom line we are getting tired of hearing excuses. We are loyal fans and deserve a hockey team we can be PROUD of. That’s all
Briere should not get praise for anything. His mismanagement of the BEST prospect in the system cost the Flyers Cutter Gauthier, who is currently en route to a 40+ goal season in Anaheim. NOBODY in the current prospect pool is even close to that level of talent.
And let's not forget that he failed to trade Risto at the Trade deadline, also a huge failure. Risto's value coming out of the Olympics was at a high, and he is injury prone, so an injury over the next 20 games could mess up his trade value. And he still has a year left on his contract, so teams looking for a D-man like that would have gotten more than a short term rental. Danny couldn't even do his one job at the deadline.
And Briere's drafting record is not very impressive either.
Danny Briere needs to be fired.
Simple question, every one is mostly disappointed with the Flyers season but if they simply played in the Western Conference they will locked into the 7th seed with a high probability for the playoffs w/o having Forester and a serviceable backup goalie most of the year… I am pretty sure the perception will be totally different with Danny's job ;-)… We also have Zavragin & Martone and few other promising prospects coming so lets be a lil patient guys!!!

I guess tyson is chopped liver. You mention mich and martone but if tyson didnt get hurt they probably would be in the playoffs. I heard a lot of analysts comparing him to Mark Stone ( doesnt mean hes as good yet) which is pretty high praise. I dont think theyre that far away from a playoff team but being a true contender id say at least 2 years. I like the core they're just young and need a 1d and a high level center and competent backup too. All these things could already be in the system they just need to develop most of them aint even pro yet.
We need a 1 D before the 1C ..Sanheim blows , he was running around like a chicken with its head cut off on the 2nd Wild goal -and did nothing . Most over rated player since Provy
