Oilers have a team culture problem. If you aren't part of the team clique, they hang you out to dry. They use their play to "send messages" to coaching and management. Have loved this team since the 80s, and this is one of the most talented incarnations…BUT, I think it maybe has the worst culture. Unless they repair this….they will be unlikely to win a Championship.
I mean, seriously. There's nothing else left to do: Waive Jarry. Take a look at who Matt Tomkins is. He won't be worse than Jarry at this point. For sure. He won't. If he's not better, though go with Pickard (you know who he is) and Ingram. There is nothing left to lose. Do it now.
Ingram will be back. Defence will suck forever. But Ingram will be back.
The Oilers both waited too long and jumped too early to make a change in net. I would've been a lot happier if they'd made a play to pick up someone like Gibson during the offseason.
They didn't, but then they panicked due to the pressure of Skinner being brutal in goal. Rather than hold out until the trade deadline, to see if they could pick up a decent tendy from a team who is looking to sell, they made a lateral trade in net for a goalie who is worse than Skinner because he costs more and has no additional upsides that you'd expect from that bump in cap hit.
It's a damning indictment of the situation when you end up having to rely on the goalie who was initially a third string you were taking a gamble on, and who was playing in the AHL.
IDK what it is with this team and their incompetence when it comes to the goalies they pick.
Oilers management please send Jarry to minors and bring back a real goalie in Pickard. I think Jarry's career is over.

The first half of the game the whole team played really poorly. Interestingly, when they were down 5-0 and it was clear Knoblauch wasn't going to change the goaltending is when Jarry really started to bear down and battle. It was either "stop pucks and battle" or continue to get embarrassed. Awful game but there was a lot to learn from it. The Oilers were getting beat but they still stuck up for each other and actually tried. (Well after the first 28 minutes anyway)
I think Jarry needs glasses, seriously. He cannot pick up the puck and is flopping all over the place. He is not ok and cannot stop a puck.
David Staples just said he didn’t blame Jarry for 6 out of the 7 goals last night. What?!?

I'm thinking that Pickard should be getting the call, send Jarry down, maybe he can work on his game better down there but its just not worth risking right now. I think the team would have more confidence in Pickard

This is hilarious. Skinner in Pittsburgh, and after a couple of rough starts, he has been trending upward and he's literally the SAME save % as he had in Edmonton at this point with Pittsburgh. Jarry on the other hand, trending downward, and his save % is 6 points lower. Probably to late to say that mabye it's NOT just the goalie?
