  1. It’s the perfect storm Nate is arguably the best skater in the league and he went pretty hard to the net and chose his line. I’ve never seen McDavid blow up a goalie like this in similar situations.

  2. Just another thing that Head office and the refs do to leave the rest of the league having no clue what to expect when it comes to what is breaking the rules and what isn’t. To tell you the truth, it’s become a goddamn joke.

  3. Spot on Steve with the rescind, though its not that Nurse was falling as you said. He was playing the puck, and successfully played the puck away from the net. I think that was probably why the refs went with the 5 instead of the two, if Nurse was playing to check McKinnon, it probably doesn't get called at all.

It is a little disturbing though, Nurse has graduated from deflecting the puck into our net to deflecting players into our goalie.

  4. Mackinnon never planned to avoid the crease. Ingram has the right to the ENTIRE crease, it does not matter where in the crease he gets hit.
MacKinnon is responsible for his reckless choice. He had another path, it was behind the net…which is actually where the puck was.
Bednar is an idiot. He just made it obvious that if this happens again it should be called intentional.

  5. Yes he did. If you charge the crease at top speed you are risking hurting yourself and the goalie. I don't like when McDavid does it either but at least he's only hurt himself. If you choose to charge the crease you are 100% responsible for what happens next.
As for Nurse, he was doing what he's supposed to do for once. He certainly didn't make Nate do anything, Nate was very clearly going to hit Ingram regardless and anyone saying otherwise is blind and ignorant.

  6. I’m sorry, but I think people are backing Nate because he is Nate. If a Panther player did this, you would be right there with us calling for his head. I don’t care about intention, I care about results. He ran his knee into a goalie’s head. You should be suspended for that. Every single player that runs their knee into a goalie’s head should be suspended. If that happened consistently, we wouldn’t see this type of play as much. And goalies wouldn’t get hurt as much.

  7. Wasn’t a game misconduct, he gets bumped towards Ingram. These calls are inconsistent. If you get pushed into or towards the goalie it shouldn’t be a penalty. Was nice to watch the stars beat the oilers tonight 7-2.

  8. My problem with it is players should not be allowed to charge that hard to the net and make it a 50/50 chance of something bad happen to the goalie. A play like this pretty much finished Carey Price. They need to be as sensitive with goalies as the NFL is with QB's.

  9. 3:05 – You’re right, there’s nothing MacKinnon could have done. That’s the point, he put himself in a situation where this could happen and he came out of it having injured the goalie. You accept the risks when you crash straight to the net like this.

  10. It was not a miss-call. Mac never even touched the puck. He was driving directly towards Ingram (who was in the blue paint). The contact with Nurse's head may have made it a little worse, but there was no way he would have simply skated around Ingram. His intent was likely not to injure Ingram, but it was a Bennett-type play, but more violent.
