I think the King's Ransom Army was asking for for Thomas says a lot about how much he was "shopping" him–that it was really what was speculated, he was just listening in case someone was reckless enough to force his hand. If I'm Thomer, I take that into account, and likely a bit flattered that that's how much the team thinks of me.

As far as NTCs..how weird would it be to ask a player to sign a long term deal and commit to your organization and not give them the same respect and commit to them with a NTC so they can’t have one off year and then the team controls where they go?

Alex saying “do you like that 6.5M for parayko? You weren’t getting it without a NTC”… Parayko was on the “worst contracts in the NHL” board on the athletic multiple times before the cap skyrocketed and he had his renaissance year last year. His contract looks good now, but it was not a good contract. The Krug Parayko and Faulk contracts were all scrutinized heavily at points in time.
I’m super pumped about getting a first round pick from the islanders. That number 32 spot will change the franchise.
Great job. Im not worrying about the players feelings. We pay them for results on the ice. We love them for the other stuff. A wakeup call could be all we see from this
I actually really like the Blues roster moving forward. They need to move out Kyrou in the offseason. I'm thinking maybe Kyrou for Nemec and perhaps some draft pick swapping between NJ and STl. That gives the Blues a legit RHD group moving forward with Maillioux, Nemec, Parayko and Jiricek. After that the Blues need another center and they need someone at LHD that can score some points. You use your top 10 pick on one of those. You have cap space to find the other. Plus other first round picks.
Kyrou, Stenberg, and a 1st, not the top first, for Robertson. Extend Robertson. Keep Thomas.

This really shows you the value of first round picks In the NHL. Schenn and Faulk would have 4th rd draft picks trade value in the NFL.
I'm not so sure the Blues are headed for a total rebuild. At the deadline, sure, it made total sense to move on from some old, bring in some new, and gain cap space in the process. However, I don't think this team's nearly as bad as their record. They had some really bad injury luck to key players this year. Keep those guys healthy and we're easily in the playoffs with a good chance to make some noise. So, the situation dictated being sellers at the deadline, but I don't think that hold true for the offseason unless we get blown away with offers.
Save the C for someone next year.
I live in San Jose, and a coworker was pouting about "rebuilding" when they made the moves a few years ago. I told him that at least you are making the hard move now, and it will pay off in 3-5 years. I also said that "at least you aren't us, who will sit in no-mans land between not sucking enough to build and not good enough to make a legit run."
Fast forward to today, SJ has turned a corner and, they may not make it this year, but they'll likely be a playoff team next, and where are we? Talking about a rebuild that we could have started at any point over the last 2-3 years. I'm almost angry at the way we've played over the last week or two, "Where was this 2-3 months ago!?"
I'll admit, last year's surge (and to a lesser extent, the Cup run in '19) has made me think "let's wait and see" but with the way this season as gone, I'm convinced this core isn't/wasn't going to get it done. I held out hope Kyrou was the next goal scorer but I wasn't convinced when we paid him and I sadly feel vindicated today. I had more faith in Thomas back then and will be sad to see him leave if he does go.
Thomas doesn't deserve the captaincy the same way Teresenko didn't. You can be the best player on the team and be a baffoon, which Thomas is. Neither of those guys could verbally go to bat for his team. It was more of a language barrier for Teresenko. Thomas does not do well in front of the media. The best "team moments" i ever see from him is when he's all smiles and huggy after they score. He does not present like a leader at all, and not everyone has it. Call me crazy but the best player is not always the leader and the best players can not always coach. It takes different kinds of people at different organizational levels. You're the best. We paid you for it, but we're giving it to Neighbors next year because he can put words together well enough, and which one of you is more likely to step up when the other team is targeting our young guys? Is it you Thomer? Are you going to get in someone's face? Sit down little boy. You are "the" guy but you're not "that" guy… and somebody stop putting him in these commercials please.
