I like the idea of the goalies facing more shots actually, teams that have good goalie numbers tend to have some games where their goalie saves 20-30 shots, as long as they aren't grade A,s shots from the outside or more expected areas can keep a goalie ready and in the game rather than standing and watching the game from the other end all night
