The disconnect comes straight from Pelley. He gave Berube roster decision power this season. When a GM and coach both has the same power, it always causes issues. The employee won't do what his boss is telling him. That's an issue! And that happened because of Pelley.

If they bring in a new front office and coach you will have the same problem as when Dubas was let go. Tre came in and was handcuffed by having no time to really put a plan in place to turn things around. He had to extend Mathews and deal with Marners deadline to trade him weeks after taking over. Do you think Mathews would have extended if Marner had been rush traded? Changes to management needed to happen months ago so a new group had time to form a plan. This will be Dubas 2.0
They all they need to go, a GM that messed and disadvantaged the team, a coach the cannot coach the talent he has, and a Captain, that is getting paid +$12 mill US, and cannot score and does not give a shit.

Already said this once again in my previous comments. Matthews has checked out. He will do his best next season becaause it's a contract year but after that he is GONE. The talking heads don't understand that Matthews is in it for himself more than any team success unlike McDavid who is far far more unselfish. Anyway my advice is to use these picks and any more they get and build around NYLANDER , KNIES, JT etc and pretend that Matthews is gonzo…..he will be just watch and learn.
Throw Pelley into that fire too.

The leafs did not make the playoffs in the 2020 season. They were knocked out in the elimination tournament by the Colombus Blue jackets. The Stanley cup playoffs started after that play in tournament.

This is the 2nd year now matthew has not performed well looking so much overpaid now .The way he's going he may have 4 or 5 good years in him remaining not getting that 17 million contract now nfw matthew.

That’s lots of problems with the Leafs. Leafs always seem to get recycled coaches from the old boys club. Martin St Louis never coached a pro game until Montreal signed him as coach. At the top how does Pelley run all the MLSE teams ?
