Blues have a good young team. On D Melliox is growing they have Jiricek in the minors very dynamic right side offensive D man. He's neatly ready. Lindstein has been called up a left side first round D man. Fowler, Parayko, and Broberg are all above average. So Merek doesn't know the pieces on D the Blues have. He doesn't do enough research goes for drama over substance.
Brady for Thomas
They don’t have a plan. The real question is who figures it out first Toronto or st.Louis 😂😂😂
Thomas and Snuggerud might turn into something special. Gotta give both the pairing and Snuggerud a little time.
Blues had a ton of injuries this year and guys playing hurt. Army wanted top value or keep his guys. I think they trade Binner and Kyrou over the summer because they have winger depth and Hofer has emerged as the #1 goalie.
I don't believe Thomas was ever being shopped–Armstrong was "listening" on all players, and the really high price for Thomas said how interested he was in making that deal: not really, unless someone offered a ridiculous haul that he couldn't say no to. And possibly even then, Maybe.
I think Doug Armstrong just pulled his classic bait and switch with Thomas and Parayko being the bait to get teams talking about Schenn and Faulk. He got way above value on both so I’d say it worked. Bravo
Maybe Robert Thomas narrowed the field on teams he'd report to?
Makes it difficult to seal a deal for Armstrong.
Montreal did nothing because other teams likely want Michael Hage in any trade, someone the Habs will not part with.
Thomas is gone. Has nothing to do with all this verbiage.
Kyrou is the most useless $8m/y plug in the league
I pray the Blues hit the lotto. They could use it big time. That would definitely change the approach and open some other doors I think.
Army had a position where anyone was on the table. I've always said it's all about the return. You always listen because you just never know what you're going to hear. That said, I still think Kyrou is moved. We need defense. I also think a lot of the "goaltending issues" are functions of this blueline issue. Hofer is already a stud though, so we're good there and Binner can be moved so he's not playing 30 games a year.
Blues young guys have been hurt and underperformed all year. But they’re healthy now, including Thomas and actually look like they should’ve all year. Still won’t make the playoffs. But trade Kyrou in the offseason and we will circle back next year and see.
If you dont know what the plan is, then you haven't been following the team's farm system
Dvorsky, Adam Jiricek, Snuggerud (who had a multi point game last night as a rookie), Otto Stenberg, Adam Jecho, Theo Lindstein (who had his first point in his first game). Kind of reminds me of the early 2010's when the Blues were in the dark turning a corner after drafting Tarasenko and Schwartz (who were both on the cup team).
A very highly touted prospect pool with a mix of the remaining vets will get us back to contention in no time… not to mention with the multiple 1sts we acquired for a deep draft this year
Thomas is an elite player…only problem is that he gets injured at least one a week.
I think the price the Blues were asking for Thomas was completely in line with what he can bring to a team. An off-season trade will bring very close to what the Blues will ask.
We entertain getting rid of Thomas is bc he thinks the season starts in March. He doesnt play hard until then, and mails it in from Sept-Mar. this lack of effort and intensity clouds the rest of the team and reduces their motivation and morale. It's that simple.
Dude if you was a true blue fan you’d know we have been told by our Gen man this was going to happen for 2 years and mark my words we will dominate for at least 3 years. Idiots
