obviously nurse shoulder moved mck over 3' right into goalie = nurse caused the contact by mck with goalie = no even a penalty at all on mck . little washed up idiots run nhl !
Ffs. MacK's momentum directly points at the goalie; Pointing at the direction of his skates doing a last ditch effort to redirect that force "away" from the goalie — allegedly (!!!) — is such a lame, lame excuse! What is the defender supposed to do? Not to defend? Not making an attempt to steal away the puck? Ffs.! This is ridiculous! I hate it, how some hockey fans seem to think, its ok to steamroll the opposing goalie, if there was some plausible deniability of some defender doing their very job …
If a stick rises up, it's always said: you are responsible for your own stick! (Even many times, when the other party had a stake in it!)
But bulldozong over the goalie, in their crease was a-ok, was somehow magically turned fair game when a defender somewhat interacts with your reckless, violent push then, suddenly, it's all good? Eff that!
Penality is fine but 5 minute major no way. And Ejection what a joke. But it's the NHL they never hold the refs accountable. That's why their ratings suck. They just let Mcdavid call his own penalties. Everyone know it. This was an absolute joke. Everyone said it. The commentators experts everyone. That ref should be suspended. He had a chance to make it right.
Physics says his body does exactly what it did. No way turns and avoids the goalie. Notice how the legs are moved around in various directions, but his body never changes direction. Physics. 5 mins for sure, even if he scores. Just look at the path he's taking before contact with Nurse is made, and with that speed, and tell me he's going to turn 90 degrees to the left in a 2 foot space.
If the defender has a right to space the fault is with MacKinnon for the line he choose, so penalty sure and when a forceful foul occurs that results in blood a game misconduct becomes an option.
Ever since he missed that gift in the Olympics, he's become a dirty player. Had to go home early and cuddle that little stuffed animal the Italian Awards official gave him after winning the silver medal!
So all the reddit neckbeards think mackinnon just shouldnt make a play on the puck here. Its insane these people can vote. These people prolly think men and women can become the opposite sex depending how they feel when they wake up that day.
As an Oilers fan I agree. Just a shitty situation. McDavid makes plays like that all the time in front of the net. I’m sure the Oilers would have had the same reaction to the situation if it were McDavid on Blackwood. That’s just what happens when you have aggressive to the net players.
as an oilers fan, this penalty was bull. At least the major part. There's no way the best player/skater on the planet (or one of) would intentionally do that for one, and two, you can clearly see him being pushed by Nurse. Shame. We will take the two points though.
Tell me, how does Nurse push McKinnon with his head? He didn’t McKinnon ran into him, see his head get jerked sideways, and McKinnon bounced off hitting Ingram. Btw Nurses stick was between the puck and McKinnons stick so he never did touch the puck. Refs got the call right.
Once again NHL officials prove they do not have a freaking clue!! Nurse clearly knocked him into Ingram. Wake up NHL, and hire so actual competent officials.
Why does incidental contact absolve the attacking player of all responsibility?
Nurse didn’t shoulder check or trip Mack. If he did I’d agree. His head is allowed to be there when playing the puck. Mack skated into it which is fine since he’s playing the puck.
But you can’t just bounce off another player at full speed and expect to have no blame for anything that happens afterwards.
You can create endless absurd situations if all incidental contact means you have no penalty for anything that happens afterwards in the crease.
Every player should just skate full speed at the net front defender hoping to brush off them so they can land a knee to the opposing goalies head.
Or cut across the crease at full speed and say “if I didn’t get challenged by the defender I’d have missed the goalies head by 5mm according to my skate angle. Don’t impede my path to score next time and everything will be fine.”
Obviously no intent by Mack but he’s still responsible for his body when engaging in a 50/50 chance for the puck.
I think that makes it an obvious 2 min. Then a 5 min is 50%. Argument for is the injury. Argument against is it’s not deliberate / no intent by Mack.
Thank god we don't have the public vote on calls. If only we had a means to replay this during a game, and get assistance from the league… oh wait, yeah that's right.
Mac was not performing a U turn as you suggest. He was pulling a Sam Bennett. He was not stopping no matter what. Nurse or no Nurse. He was running through the crease. Call justified.
I think a double minor for goaltender interference would probably have been the most appropriate if you compare it to high sticking. You're responsible for your body (your stick) and he drew blood. (EDIT: And if someone redirects your stick and it hits someone, it's still your stick and you're responsible for the results; EDIT 2: Also, since I don't believe they can call a double minor for that, a five minute major is closer to appropriate than a minor is)
You can make up 5 million excuses for him but Nurses head doesn’t generate that much power to push such huge guy away.
Ohhh there were there at the sane time for the puck , sorry to burst your blind bubble but Nurses head was on the puck first no matter what your dumb ass thinks. He didn’t even try to jump, move nothing he planted his legs for the hit its easy to see. Now 29 is an amazing and NOT a dirty player at all one of the best in hockey for sure but don’t sit there making excuses for a bad play
You act as if Darnel Nurse didn't have the exact same right to that ice. Penalty as called, I'm glad the refs got this one right. Cheap shot Nate needs to be fined and suspended.
It was intent to injure by McKinnon….McKinnon put his knee out and directly into goalie’s head! Nurse did NOT make him put his knee into goalie’s head!!!!! It should be a 5/Game and 3-game suspension!!!
No no no. You must protect the goalie. If you have to go frame by frame to excuse a contact that hard to the goalie, you're case isn't good enough. MacKinnon should have do more to not crash into the goalie. If you are responsible for your stick going in the face of someone, you're responsible of your body hitting the goalie in his crease.

Yeah as soon as i saw it you could see Nurse lean into him a little as well Never a penalty

He very clearly had his path redirected by contact with Nurse. How do you take that long and still give 5 and a game?
Also, Avs are 3-12 in their last 15 games reffed by Kelly Sutherland.

These men are so talented at skating, without being pushed into the tendy, he would 1000% have avoided it

Clearly nurse being out of position and diving into Macks legs.

Refs FTW

Kadri taught him that

Nate could've avoided contact by taking puck around net for wrap around.
He chose to take a lane Nurse closed

Let me guess, you’re an avalanche fan.
Nurse
Waivers
Now
I think the more amazing thing here is video evidence of Nurse actually making a good defensive play to prevent a goal.
Mac was not performing a U turn as you suggest. He was pulling a Sam Bennett. He was not stopping no matter what. Nurse or no Nurse. He was running through the crease. Call justified.

reckless path to the net and is totally responsible for want happens
