  1. Way way better bunting did not crack the lineup after he was suspended and Bert will be a staple

  2. I don't know…I guess people have short memories. So they look at Bert's playoff and they think that's who he is. There's no reason to believe that. It was his first time in the playoffs and he played like he might never get another chance. But is that going to translate into the regular season? There's no reason to believe it will. He hit less, blocks less, is less productive, has worse giveaway versus takeaway stats. Doesn't have as good of a differential when it comes to drawing penalties versus taking penalties. Reality is Toronto just spent 5.5 on a 3m a year player. Good luck with that. But he's at best a poor mans Bunting. He's not an upgrade.

  3. I love bert, but I think he hasn't had much more than 70 games in any year. last year was purely black magic acting against him. break hand, come back, break hand. u can't hold that one (or, 2) against him

  4. "He's a pain in the ass to play against" "He's an Agitator" "Makes our game more difficult" "He's a disruptor" etc….Said no one EVER of Michael Bunting. Bunting doesn't compare to Tyler Bertuzzi. Big upgrade.

  5. Bruins fan here. Though it pains me to say it, Bertuzzi is definitely better than Bunting at whatever niche Bunting filled, he's gonna be great for Toronto especially if they plan to keep him long term. I was hoping to keep Bertuzzi for a long time here in Boston but I guess Sweeney had his finger up his own butt.

As far the injury prone stuff goes, yeah, Im with Steve on this. It was just one year. You make a gamble on every player you sign that you hope that guy stays healthy. And in a pretty violent Florida series, Bertuzzi by and large stayed consistent. Sucks that his efforts were wasted.

Overall, I was thrilled to find out that the Leafs lost the only real bite they had with Michael Bunting. But then they got arguably a bigger bite back with Tyler Bertuzzi.

  6. He’s not injury prone. Look at what happened. He stood up in gritty fashion blocking shots face forward and twice took hard shots to the hand. Not injury prone…and it’s my team that he left.

  7. Idc us getting bunting at 3×4.5 in rods system is still a steal. He’s the exact player we needed
