The Philadelphia Flyers make a surprising move, sending winger Bobby Brink to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for former top defensive prospect David Jiříček.
In this episode, we break down what this deal means for both teams and why Philadelphia might be betting big on Jiříček’s upside on the blue line. Is this the kind of high-risk, high-reward move that could reshape the Flyers’ defense for years to come? And what does Brink bring to Minnesota’s lineup immediately?
We’ll dive into the fit, the roster implications, and whether this trade makes sense for Danny Brière’s long-term plan. Let’s break it all down. 🏒🔥

Great move , sad to see the smiling brink go but their getting a prospect with a big upside
I’m rooting for the wild this year now that brink is there and win the cup
Danny was brilliant the coach wasn't playing are star young rookie Russian enough😮😢 now Brier has taken out one of the stepping blocks for our star
Absolutely worth a shot. Flyers have players in the pipeline who can give them what Brink provides. It often takes defensemen a little while longer to find themselves and I love that Briere is getting creative to try and find a top pairing defenseman. It is a calculated gamble he had to take.
Traded an undersized 25-year-old for a 22-year-old beefy underachiever. We need him to get close to his potential
Blockbuster? 25 games and 0 points
JIRICEK is going to be a rockstar . Sad to see him leave Minnesota. 😢
Good trade for the flyers. Grade it a B
Crappy move, this Jiricek is now on his 3rd team…there's a reason nobody wants him
Both teams win, Minnesota in the short term, the Flyers in the long term.
I keep hearing people say that Briere needs balls to swing for home run deals to make this rebuild work.
Isn't trading from a position we have depth at for a player that needs more time to develop and was taking in the top 10 a potential big swing home run?
Com on flyers right prospect are deep now gill bonk jiricek amico left side is bare.
But also opens up trade possibilities
I like how brink is in his hometown team nice to see
Need scoring! No changes show the team in not expecting to make the playoffs this year.
Yup
I was hopeful 1 of 2 things.so bigass dman was 1 with high upside.quinn hughes fallout perhaps but brink could be a guy for them.
We needed either a rightie bigass dman or faceoff winning center,so its an ok trade for both sides
Im alittle puzzled as why sent him immediatey phantoms when room on roster however
Beauty breakdown. I love this trade.
Dan Vladar's countryman — could be a good fit.
Briere is an idiot. He literally had one job: trade Risto. And this clown of a GM couldn't even do that. So instead we go for a washed up former first rounder who gives Nolan Patrick vibes. Great. 🙄
Briere is in over his head! Jiricek was a mistake as a 6 overall pick who has disappointed 2 franchises. 0 points in 25 games this season? -8 so far in 84 games. Elite pedigree? Offensive tools? He never showed any of this even in the AHL. Brink was a scrapper, fought along the boards, gave more effort than any other Flyer. Represented being a Flyer second only to TK. Flyers need centers, not project dmen. Watch briere overpay him now.
I can’t with the checkers chess metaphor it isn’t hitting 🚩
Another irrelevant move
Kreskin says give it a year…..
I like the move, but the Flyers more urgent need is at Center.
Danny made a great, savvy trade.A Big Flyer win on this one.
I like the idea. Brink is the better player now, but we'll see. You said it perfectly. It's a gamble. Hopefully it pays off
Good move for the Flyers as they need a promising big, young right shot defenseman.
I grade it A+ honestly. As you said, there’s no guarantee he pans out, but if he does live up to his potential then this is just as big a move as getting a 1C. Not to mention, Jiricek has a huge shot, the Flyers powerplay has been DESPERATE for a shot like that since Ghost got shipped out. And worst case scenario, if Jiricek doesn’t pan out, all they gave up in the end was Bobby Brink. I’m more than willing to live with that. As you said, this is the kind of risk you have to take when rebuilding
Im rooting for Jiricek but hope he is good for the locker room. Had some questionable comments about his position when he was at columbus
Danny did great on this deal!!! And we got lucky given the Wild landed Quinn Hughes and pretty much did not have the room to develop Jricek who obviously they believed in long term bc look at the ABSOLUTE HAUL they gave up to get him from CLB (D-man prospect, 2025-1st (top-five protected), 2026-3rd, 2026-4th AND a 2027-2nd!!!)
