  1. The Islanders should have gotten a draft pick along with Schenn. A third-rounder would have been good, so it would have been a swap. Should have traded Lee for a pick.

  2. Gil Yeah I watched a replay of The NYI SJ overtime and Schaefer barely came off the ice, the entire OT…he reminds me of Scott Niedermeyer, it looks so easy for him…he's 18 and directing traffic on the 3 on 3…and yes Sorokin was the #1 star for me…I think he should win the Vezina I think he got 20 seconds on the bench, even Barzy was gassed, he motored out of the zone to put that perfect pass on Horvath's stick…it was remarkable…he has another gear I haven't seen before. Barzy did give him a shot, but Schaefer took a high stick and Orlov I think took a run at him too? It must be tough to trade your captain like Schen will be an emotional moment for him to come back to St. Louis right away and St. Louis is 10 points out after winning 3 in a row…this will probably be a tough game.

  3. 1) An actual bridge may not have cist as much. 2) Dont even joke about Lee being resigned. 3) Do u believe if Isles want to trade Schenn at next years deadline they can get the same return. To me Darche went against EVERYTHING he said he would do. Roy gotta go & my trust in Darche is gone.Maybe he rebounds but he drove straight off the cliff Friday. Seemed desperate.

  4. Does a 34 year old have that many options? I mean Stl told him they wanted to trade him. How many suitors? He wants to.keep the contract he currently isnt earning. Does not want to risk a buy out. I just think his path had narrowed. Young Schenn would have been a great addition. Are there any big ticket fa's? I heard its beyond weak class. Hey how about episode on best UFA NCAA GUYS? What assets does Darche have to add big ticket young player? He wasted thrm on Schenn. So next trade is gonna be painful BC he didnt trade away players & gain assets.

  5. The Islanders' power play is the embodiment of the expression: Perfect is the enemy of good.

The point about Schaefer's potential effect on the FA market in the off season is a solid one … especially for the younger FAs that are looking for 5+ year contracts.

Based on past "Islander Luck" Drouin will likely break his scoring drought against the Isles on Tuesday.

  6. this team is in no way looking to the future or sticking to a plan. roster now contains 15 players (not including ltir'd 40) 30 or over. 37% of all players now contain some form of ntc which made pickings slim so all tdl was was old guys being shuffled all over the place. was schenn the best isles could do? was he their target all along? and how hard were they trying for say kyrou who stayed a blow or others with asking prices high? or did others not want to waive a ntc to come to isles?
whatever it was one thing is certain. for a team the was supposed to be focusing for the future isles only got older this season. adding 2 34 year olds + a 31 year old and re-upping 33 year old 44 to a 2 year deal probably means the same to come to 35 year old 27. looks like the louzer plan is still in effect. ownership must have pushed for this valuing playoff revenue over future success. louzer plan still in effect-just add older guys who all do the same shit. all similar interchangeable type players. do isles really need 10 c's that all do the same thing?
schenn deal may be good for short term this season, but not for future. could have moved 44, 27 for assets. and did it cost a first to dump 29 as well? at least 29 is gone… and pp not addressed unless 12 g schenn is the answer.

  7. all i know is for a team that was building for the future did nothing but get older this season. 15 players plus ltir'd 40 all 30 or over. the tdl was just old guys moved all over the place. and with 37% of all players having some form of ntc the pickings were slim.
so was the schenn trade needed or best isles could do with prices high? it may help short term but does nothing for future. especially when 33 and 35 year old 44 and 27 remained with one re-upping for 2 more years. the other re-upping sure to come. add that to 34 year old 81 addition and this screams no future plan, sounds more like ownership pushing for playoff revenue over future success.
and parayko used his ntc to block trade to sabres. blows were looking to move anything that moved. so i wouldn't get too giddy over one vet who blows wanted to move out waiving his ntc to come to isles. no loyalty factor here looking to future for blows to a guy who won a cup with blows. just like caps moving out one of their cup vets carlson to get younger. blows are going nowhere and were looking to move expensive vets out. and when no one would take kyrou or thomas and their huge asking price and contracts schenn and faulk were moved for two firsts, third. probably became a first to take 29 ufa mistake off of isles hands. schenn got his cup and with blows going nowhere it was time to move on. can't keep these cup guys forever out of loyalty. we don't know who isles were targeting or if schenn was the best isles could do amidst high asking prices/ntc's. the better question is how is this sticking to the plan when 44, 27 could have been moved for assets? and why do isles need 10 c's who all do the same thing. at least they will be good in the dot. nothing has changed. just an old roster of similar interchangeble parts. its like louzer never left.
