In this video, I break down a controversial goal against Darcy Kuemper and analyze whether the announcer got it right. Was this a soft goal — or is there more going on beneath the surface?
Using detailed analysis, I examine Kuemper’s positioning, depth management, edge work, puck tracking, and save selection on the play. I also discuss where I disagree with the broadcast commentary and explain the technical goaltending concepts that may have been overlooked.
If you’re a goalie, goalie coach, or serious hockey fan who wants to better understand NHL goaltending mechanics, this breakdown will give you insight you won’t hear on the broadcast.
Topics covered:
• Darcy Kuemper goal analysis
• Broadcast commentary vs goalie perspective
• Technical goaltending concepts

His hand looked a little lazy but it wasn’t a soft goal…few that are just inside the post are.
These announcers that have never played goal…smh
Thank God someone else is calling out Cassie Campbell-Pascall. Some of the worst color commentary in sports.
Love watching this channel because I'm learning the specifics behind a lot of the stuff that felt generally intuitive but I didn't fully understand. Like I never knew why Sorokin was so good, just that he was. But seeing the way that he consistently makes these micro-adjustments on every play to set him up for success, now it all makes sense (even if the transition does sometimes open him up to getting beat if you catch him during it)
Darcy's been my favorite goalie since i was old enough to have a favorite, hate to see him struggling especially after his incredible season last year
Thought this dude was famois because he has a good mic and editting and clips and true anylist
Oh, man. I love the way Sorokin looks like he's attached to the post by a hinge. I'd love to be able to pivot off the post like that. He makes it look so easy. Also, about the Pens D-man screening him and how you'd want your d-man to get out of the way … just last week, my d-man did the same thing to me, but even worse: The puck carrier took the shot, which I had eyes on the whole time. I dropped into the butterfly, and I'm tracking it right into my chest the whole way. Then the D-man puts his stick out to knock it out of the air, and redirects it toward my glove side, labeled for the top shelf. Fortunately, I was able to snag it. But I'm just like "WHYWHYWHY?!" (It was a ridiculous grab — the refs and even the guys from the other team absolutely loved it.)
For modern tv personalities, every goal is one the goalie should have. It's so hard to watch the broadcasts these days.
I'm so tired of women on men's sports broadcasts, DEI color analysts are everywhere
Based on vibes I agree it really feels like skinner never stops breakaways
Women announcers in men's sports shouldn't be a thing.
She's just talking it's not really analysis of what happened.
