No teams were trading. It was a snorefest. The Leafs did what they could and lots of GMs are happy that they are sucking. Nobody is helping Treliving. Richest team in the league. The Leafs. Matthews is not the same guy and zero defense. Maybe at the draft something will happen. Hopefully. Blaming Treliving for 9 years of bad management decisions is ridiculous. Shanny and Dubas for not getting something for Marner. Not building a defense. Awful.
The best thing the leafs can do is blow this up can't continue this bullshit into next season.
Do you think Matthews will get 30 goals or more this season? I'd be surprised. If he does, I'd be really surprised if he gets more than 35 at this point. If this continues to the end of his contract, should he continue to earn over $13 million?
The Leafs needs to learn to teach from the bottom to be able to play in the NHL. Bring up the Marlies. That is their future. They won't be able to get stars to come here. Otherwise you would see Crosby, McDavid, etc come here.

It's CRAZY how NO leaf fans understand the difference between trading for a guy who has TERM left on his deal vs an upcoming UFA. Laughton's Value was vastly different last year vs this.

Sabotage. Deliberate sabotage is the only thing I can conclude. It’s mistake, after fumble, after incompetence and lack of ideas and decisions. What player of a high quality would want to sabotage their Hockey career to come to this absolute ton of mess. Lack of vision and desire to honestly want to succeed. This town ain’t it.

don't think they can make a plan till they see what the market is like in the spring …They could say oh we're signing some free agents and making a couple of trades with our picks and be back in the playoff race next season …But if there's no players available for trade or signings this summer Then your plan would have to change and maybe more of a light rebuild… So the market dictates what the plan is.. I don't want to be Buffalo or Detroit or San Jose for the next 10 years… they just need to get a stud defenseman and all is well

Kucherov is underrated player and for me i have always thought that he is Bäckström with a great shot on the PP. Bäckström was so good on PP he could just slow the game and hold on to the puck for so long and wait for the passing lane to open and then tape to tape pass to Ovie Semin Oshie Carlson Green etc.
Imagine Russia at the Olympics. Kucherov and their goaltending would have made the result different.
