The Chicago Blackhawks are deep in their rebuild, but how much patience should fans have as the process continues? Jay Zawaski and Mario Tirabassi discuss why the rebuild under general manager Kyle Davidson may take time and what realistic expectations should be for the team moving forward. The guys break down the long-term plan for the Chicago Blackhawks and why developing young talent around Connor Bedard is the priority. What does patience really look like during a rebuild, and when should fans expect the team to start taking the next step?

Patience, they got rid of a prospect before his first year in as a Pro was over.
It’s hard but we’ll get there Chicago 👍 the kids are doing great.
I might catch flak for this take too: and I will preface this with I understand its the standard: Mcdavid, Mackinnon playing similar quarterback roles and it works BUT
We have young team with tons of speed: why are we still ONLY looking to Connor to break past the blue line? We need Franky, Greene, Moore, Lardis and other to start stepping up and driving those plays so Connor can find the gaps.
Otherwise it will remain predictable and a "shut down Bedard" game.
if 2026 draft is shit again , i hope bedard just leaves for good
Bedard took him 3 years because he never got the support from this organization. Look at the Sharks and Celebrini. The moment Blashill stop using guys like Burakovsky we'll be back to the mix
Nah man. this team has been bad for 10+ years. Im tired of the same old excuses
In fairness, Blackhawk fans have been very patient.
I’m sorry I’m not a believer in this rebuild crap you have to use some draft capital and players to get an elite player. We need another elite player to hook up with Bedard just waiting around for all these draft That we got isn’t the only way we should go. We need a veteran defenseman thats willing to take the body and we need a elite scorer and we have the players and the draft picks to get one rebuild another 5 yrs BS
One thing that bothers me is this is a young and fast team yet they play a trap system which sort of neuters them offensively
It’s Davidson’s 5th year btw (4.5 seasons technically) team isn’t really getting better standings wise
Taking a defenseman second overall over a forward for Bedard to play with was a huge mistake. U should only take a D that early if they’re lane Huston/matthew Schaffer material
Look at the conference. San Jose is ahead of the Hawks. I know Anahiem started their rebuild before the Hawks, but they are going to be a problem. ( Carlsson, McTavish, Gauthier, Sennecke, LaCombe, Zellwegger, Mintyukov) All young, all producing in the NHL. Prospects McQueen,
These guys said at the beginning of the year they wouldnt accept them not playing meaningful games in March this year , now they are making excuses again
the 2023 Draft when Bedard was taken #1 the teams 2-6 (Ducks, Blue Jackets, Sharks, Canadiens, AZ) are now all playoff contenders while the BHawks are bottom 3 again. Add the expansion Kraken also passing the Hawks. This rebuild better produce a dynasty otherwise it is a travesty
Kyle Davidson drafted Levshunov over Demidov. I like Levshunov but does anybody actually think he’s a better player than Demidov? Could’ve had Bedard and Demidov playing together for the next 15 years… but yeah let’s trust Davidson to rebuild this roster
I am a blues fan outside of Frondell and Lardis who can help the Chicago offense? Even with all their prospects? Please enlighten me please!
We've been patient for 3 years now and it's not getting any better. This team is cratering and not progressing. We should not have been another bottom 5 team this season. Unexcuseable!
It's now over four years since Kyle Davidson was named the permanent GM after being the acting GM for over four months before then. What has changed about the message? Go young. Have them learn together. Dump Kane and Toews to let the young guys lead. Oops, they aren't ready yet so add more veterans. Filling the roster with young talent is taking a long, long time – especially since the Blackhawks sucked when he took over. Six seasons since the playoffs – and 8 of the last 9 seasons out of the playoffs. If you don't count the qualifying round in 2020 against the Oilers, the last actual playoff round the Blackhawks won was their last Stanley Cup in 2015 – that's 11 seasons without a playoff win. Fans have been patient.
That said, the Blackhawks have come this far, might as well keep going and see what the next wave of young players bring to close out this year and start next. Let's see who currently in the system can develop into something – it would be a bad look for someone to leave Chicago and become an allstar somewhere else.
But how much longer? I doubt the Blackhawks make the playoffs next season. They need to be in the playoff hunt by 2027-2028.. But they must be a playoff team in 2028-2029 or else this isn't working. At that point guys starting wanting out.
I'm done being patient, now watch them put the "C" on Bedard"s sweater and add more pressure on the "Generational" player. He'll be gone in the next few years like dozens of (quality) former Hawks spread all over the league.
I'm starting to think that a lot of these fans who are impatient are the ones who didn't become fans until around 2009ish, when the Hawks started to turn the corner. I remember as a fan being in this situation back in the day when we were the laughing stick of the league. It takes time.
I grow fatigue with the 10 year rebuild. Does Bedard have a multi year contract? No more wait til next year like the Cubs. Bedard is just fine. It’s time to hold Davidson and Blashill accountable to make the playoffs next year. Nuff said
R I P Troy Murray
Rest in peace to the great Troy Murray. It will never been the same listing to him on the radio with John Wiedeman
If they would have kept Kane and Panarin another goal a game would have been entirely possible. Think how many more games they may have won. There rebuild with young players who mostly haven't worked out.
how many more years? 10? 15?
Such BS. It's okay if the team and young players are growing, but they aren't. Three different coaches, nothing is changing. Plus he's not giving any help to a generational player. Their drafts have been just so so. You really don't have many players rated as consistent future all-stars.
