The Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Ducks played one of the wildest games of the season — and it ended in heartbreak for the Habs.
Montreal scored five goals and got big offensive performances from Cole Caufield and Lane Hutson, but a late goal by Anaheim with under a minute remaining forced overtime before the Ducks eventually won it in a lengthy shootout.
Caufield scored twice and added an assist, Hutson had three points from the blue line, and the Canadiens briefly held a 5–4 lead late in the third period. But Anaheim tied the game with just 42 seconds left in regulation before Alex Killorn sealed it in the sixth round of the shootout.

Canadiens play coupled with lack of activity at deadline has darkened short term outlook in MTL. More muppets than monsters and at least two years and 3-4 big bodies from being serious threat.
The game was a shit show tbh… if Marty put Demidov 3rd we win plain and simple why does Suzuki and caulfield shoot in shootout they’re both terrible in the shootout …. Matheson and Guhle both played 💩!!! Blame the loss on Marty putting Dach over Demidov plain and simple !!! I’m going to be brutally honest here our defensive structure is horrible !!! Hughes did a great job at the deadline getting nobody !!! I honestly think the Habs are not going to be in the playoffs this year!! Can they please change the defensive structure?? Also I think montembault might need glasses he should get his eyes checked

To many good young inexperienced defence man, average age for good solid experince defence man 27-29 years old unless you have a special one. Patience , remember we’re supposed to be ahead of schedule. However when we are winning Marty’s a hero ,when we lose he’s really inexperienced . Arm chair quarterbacks. However again, TIME TELLS EVERYTHING.

I seriously dont understand Monty…Dude can save bullets and saves that should be guaranteed goals.. yet floaters and ANY shot from the blue line is guaranteed goal. Drives me insane.
He should have those like at least 8/10 of them. Last night game felt so lack luster.. and after that PP in OT, yeah we deserved to lose. Ill admit that. Honestly getting so sick of the pass pass pass mentality, so many times they have clear lanes like that hutson goal, but than they never take them they just pass it again.

Your last comment resonates strongly with me. Last night I kept yelling at the TV for them to SHOOT THE PUCK! But, no. As you said, pass-pass-pass-pass-pass, etc, lose the puck. It was insane. They refuse to shoot unless it is 100% perfect. Every goal MUST be highlight reel material with them. Shoot the f-ing thing and good things happen. It's scoring 101, ffs!
If Montreal gets in to the playoffs, they'll need a Halak type goalie run to get passed the first round
Monty is crap.
1. Monty…yikes…I’m done.
2. This team always starts games and periods so slow and sloppy that they always give up a goal right off the bat. The intensity needs to be there for 60 minutes.
3. The same holds true for the end or periods and games. They always give up that tying or winning goal.
4. Marty, god love him, makes some questionable decisions. Whether it’s line pairings, to your point, or who takes the shootouts. I think I heard the announcer say Suzuki was 4 for 27 since 2021. That’s 15%. And it’s the same move every time from Nick. Why does Marty keep using him???? Put Slaf or Newhook out there. Give them different looks.
These kinds of games are so incredibly frustrating to watch and unfortunately it seems to be nearly every game. I should be happier with the season they’re having but I’m not!?!?
The Habs need new goalies
Monty stops the difficult shots and lets in the easy ones.
Even if the first goal is not good, its not about the goaler being pushed or something, so he gave 2 goals in two shots and at this point I dont even care this was a 2 vs 1 goal, sometimes they need to make miracle save as much as there is miraculous goal. We are losing big points even if the teams scores 5 goals… OMG this levelling up my anxiety to level I didnt even knew it was possible.
