The Montreal Canadiens are reportedly not planning to trade Patrik Laine, and it says a lot about the direction the team is taking. While trade speculation has followed Laine since arriving in Montreal, the Canadiens appear willing to stay patient and see what he can bring to the lineup long term.
Laine’s elite shot and goal-scoring ability give the Canadiens something they’ve lacked for years: a true offensive weapon who can change a game in seconds. Even if his production hasn’t been perfectly consistent, his upside is simply too valuable to move right now.
For a team that is still building toward contention, keeping Laine could signal that Montreal believes he can be an important part of the core moving forward. Instead of selling or reshuffling pieces, the Canadiens may be betting that stability — and Laine’s scoring talent — will pay off as the team continues its rebuild.

Laine's responsible for bootstrapping the start of Habs' new epoch. His shot is probably still one of the best in the League.
Sadly, no one wants him. His career is done.
Unfortunately
Habs tryed to trade him but the only offer was a bag of pucks and a kick in the ass
He's a liability on many levels. Good run tho
Is a buy out an option?
2nd overall in the NHL in pp goals and he's never been of value?? short memory my guy
He can’t play effectively at 5 on 5. 🤔
They might have had him moving in that late deal and it fell through and now stuck with him.
some of the laine trade offers were ridicilious,so damn funny..
It’s very simple…he is NOT an asset!
He’s a one trick pony , yea he’ll get 20 goals on the power play but how many goals against does his slow skating, poor defensive game , constant turnovers cost your team. Hard to believe how far he’s fallen.
We have too many forwards and left D. We should have fixed that and added a RD for Hutson.
