Trocheck STAYS, Carrick GOES as Deadline Day Wraps Up! | Up in the Blue Seats

On this episode of Up In The Blue Seats, Mollie Walker and former Ranger Brian Boyle break down everything that went down on NHL Trade Deadline Day, and what didn’t happen for the Rangers.

Despite weeks of speculation, the expected move involving Vincent Trocheck never materialized. Mollie and Brian discuss why the Rangers ultimately held onto their veteran center, what kind of trade packages were reportedly on the table, and whether keeping him could create a tricky locker room dynamic down the stretch. The crew also discusses the trade of Sam Carrick to Buffalo, J.T. Miller landing on IR and Brian takes us behind the scenes at ‘Modern Era’ Centennial Night as the Rangers came away with a huge win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

  1. Drury. Drury. Drury. It's no surprise he flubbed this deadline also. His last half dozen trades have added exactly Will Borgen to the NHL roster. He was going to botch this anyway you cut it. Holding onto the bag too long or getting fleeced by another GM. Sad part he will get as many cracks at "retooling" as his evil midget heart desires. The owner is a fool!

  2. I'm so happy Trocheck is staying! I've been a fan of his since he broke in the league. You must have someone on this team to show all the young men how a total NHL pro.💯👍

  3. The management has absolutely ruined this team in the last few years. Now we have a bunch of draft picks with a team who can’t make a good pick on top of not being able to develop said picks.
Now we are getting rid of guys who are teammates you want in your locker room especially to help teach and show the young guys the way.

  4. This two are clueless…
Cause Drury has absolutely no clue as to what he’s doing. This is probably the only good thing he’s done in his tenure as GM.

  5. I’m happy they sent the letter so they can trade Panarin for an average prospect and a third, soucy, and carrick. Some retool

  6. So now we have another player who knows the team would rather he play somewhere else who has to play the rest of his contract under a cloud… because that worked out so well in the past.

  7. The Rangers are in the position they are in because management has consistently tripped over its own feet for years. Drury has put himself in the positions the team has suffered from – Trocheck should never have been on the block.

  8. Lol, Drury is such a bad GM he couldn't negotiate trading a top asset at the deadline. What a disasterclass. So when does the "retool" start? 2028?

  9. Sam was the best 4 liner .
Seems like better you play quickly they get you off the team.
Its always done like that Rangers drama.
    Glad Vinny didn't go.
    The team needs him.
One of the best face off guys in the NHL.
Drury if your watching keep this Guy on the team.
Let him finish the contract you made with him.
And be smart tell him he's not going anywhere.
And watch how he's plays for you with no drama in the locker room.
P.s. tell. All the player's your keeping..
With that we will be in the playoffs next season.
Every hockey players knows what I'm saying .
If you as a GM and coach can't get the team to play for each other you already lost .
That's the system already 2yrs plus.
Molly your show is great and you Brian were a great ranger pissoff when they traded you.

  10. No harm asking, Vinny is a pro's pro and a great team leader. I'm glad he's staying. Haters can hate, but Drury and Sully will build this team around JT and him. Whiskey drinkers, not milk. US strong. I remember Brooks and Patrick building with 1980 Olympians, It's all good. Thanks Mollie and Brian! LGR!!! Rebuild, re-stock, revive-go for the gusto!

  11. Like I have been saying…1994 will have to be enough. I don’t anticipate seeing another cup in my lifetime as a fan of this born to lose franchise

  12. Definitely going to miss Carrick and Othmann. I really believe the kid is going to be a star and should have been developed better by the Rangers. Thank God they're keeping Vinny T.

  13. I’m ready to suffer 8 more years(ten including this season and the previous one) to have an exciting , young and quick team like the Ducks , the Sharks or the Canadiens.

  14. You guys said how much you like everything about Carrick for 5 mins but kept sayin you “liked the deal” 😂 for who?!

  15. You can't make a decent trade these days without giving up a first rounder. Pleased that sanity prevailed with many GMs. So Trocheck stays.

  16. Suxx that the NYI are building a winner, while we also contribute to building a winner…..For other teams!!!!!!

  17. Man i am so sick of the Panarin narrative ppl like Mollie Vince etc peddle to fans. Like we’re stupid. Drury rushed the deal before olympic freeze. And took a horrendous deal. If Panarin only wanted to go to LA, then how come we gave up 1st for JT, St Louis etc? And thats just for us not gunna research how many times it happens around the league. Drury in 5yrs has driven this franchise into the ground. He didnt build those ECF teams, JD & Jeff did. He had lots of cap, picks etc & ruined it from the jump. This team needs a nuclear to the studs rebuild. From having seperate GM & Pres, to revamping scouting & development.
