I thought we were in the process of getting younger but after today with this trade and extension for Pageau we’re getting older it’s indisputable and very disappointing.

We will see how that trade works out if Brayden brings leadership, grit and another PP player. Two years and net $2.5mm (with Drouin gone) is fine. The young players ie Eklund, Eiserman, Prokhorov, Nelson aren't going to be NHL ready for 2-3 years when all of the mid 30s players (Schenn, Palat, Palmieri, Pageau) will be gone
I view this as Darche saying the timeline is now and the next couple of years. The 1st rounder from Colorado is going to be a late late late 1st rounder. We need some snarl, leadership, and let go of Drouin. We get a possible 2C, former captain who can teach Ritchie what he knows. Also, 2026 draft is considered a weak draft class. Plus, read the St Louis fans on Schenn. They love the guy.
2 year window with Schenn to make use of ELC’s and reward the team before Darche blows up this 30+ core for prospects/picks and pivots to build around Schaef. Works with me. LGI 🔶🔷
I don't like the job Darche has done thus far. He's overrating Pageau. Darche gave up a first round pick that could have, and should have, been used to move up in this summer's stacked draft. Darche has not done a good job his first year as GM. Giving up a first round pick for an old, slower expensive player is not wise. He just brought in Anders Lee part two.
I’ll take Schenn. He’s a big man and he’s a 50 point captain. He will talk with Thomas and Kyrou over the summer. Maybe something comes from this. It’s a good deal.

Awful effing trade! So the Isles with win 2 games against Carolina, I stead of 1 (best case scenario). This is Mike Milbury stuff here. Way to screw up a rebuild by trying to have it both ways. We're going to end up like the Rangers soon.

Happy they didn't traded Eiserman, nelson or Atchkinson. Concerned they let Pageaus good month convince them he was worth a 3 year deal
