  1. Pens fan here, while this is our first "deadline" move, but in the last two months, we traded for Chinakov, Girard, and Ilya Soloyov. We weren't expecting much more. Maybe a Skinner move.

  2. If someone can teach Elmer to be more physical he could be an absolute monster. He just doesn't even try to throw his weight around or use his reach to his advantage.

  3. Soderblom is big but that's it, smaller players out hit and out work him for puck possession. I give it a year and he'll be out of the league.

  4. Soderblom has sneaky good hands for someone his size but he hasn't produced. I think he could be a really good player within the next couple years

  5. Perfect deadline move for a guy that likes undersized forward. Got a giant that plays like an undersized forward

  6. Very interesting player but I’m also glad my team didn’t acquire him. We need to use our 3rd to pick Alexander Kharmanov instead.

  7. Soda plays like he’s 5’10” 180lbs. If he can figure out how to use his size he could be something, but hasn’t really gone that way yet.

  8. Soderblom is great along the boards, winning battles. When he's on his game he is capable of maintaining offensive pressure and he has good hands. I feel like Detroit hasn't used him to his fullest potential. They've been using him on the 4th line with Michael Rasmussen as his center. Just an absolute anchor. If the Pens can give him some better support, he should be good for them.

  9. This is a win for Elmer and for Red wings, his role was too much like rasmussen so this will help clear up some space for both

  10. It's the kind of player Dubas has been targeting. Big guy, lots of potential, needs an opportunity. Low risk, high potential for the Pens.

  11. You guys don’t pay attention and it’s literally your job. Has nothing to do with salary when Detroit has 40 mil in cap space

  12. Dubas has had a lot of success acquiring players who other organizations feel have underperformed . If he does half of what Chernakov has done since Jan. 1, it will be a good move.

  13. The Pens love them some big guys who don't play big. Mantha, Brazeau, Soderblom, Graves. 4 guys over 6'5' who have zero hits between them.

  14. My guess is he replaces Acciari next year. Love the guy but he plays a tough game
