San Jose Sharks stay quiet at the NHL trade deadline, shipping Timothy Liljegren to the Washington Capitals for a fourth-round pick and re-signing Alex Nedeljkovic for two more years. Does Mike Grier’s patience signal confidence in the current core or a missed opportunity to bolster the rebuild?
JD Young breaks down Nedeljkovic’s strong performance as a reliable 1B goalie, the roster implications of Liljegren’s departure, and why Mario Ferraro and John Klingberg weren’t moved despite trade buzz. Hear insights on Shakir Mukhamadulin’s rise, prospects like Sam Dickinson and Eric Pohlkamp, and whether playoff experience for young stars Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, and William Eklund outweighs trading assets. Can the Sharks lay the foundation for a playoff push next year, or will passing on deals haunt them?

Will Ferraro now be re-signed
I think Mike wanted to move more of the vets but it that punishes the team for playing well
I would have liked to see Kurashev or Gaudette traded, also. I think we have 1 too many forwards…
The best thing that we could get for Klingenberg is… RID OF HIM!!
I 100% thought the quote from Ralph would be “go banana!“
Should have kept Thompson
If they traded Ferraro, who would they replace him with? Neither Cagnoni or Pohlkamp are as good as him in defense.
I would have traded Klingberg, who's a defensive sieve. But he's useful on the PP unit so until Cagnoni develops his offensive game, I could see the reasoning behind that.
Sharks still need 2-3 defensemen next season. They'll only have Orlov, Mukhamadullin, and Dickinson next season.
Maybe one of their defensemen prospects will be ready next season. But they need a 2nd pairing D-man. I'd try to re-sign DeSharnaies on a 2-3 yr contract and try to re-sign Ferraro if he doesn't demand a 6 year contract.
Maybe Mike isn’t the great negotiator we had thought.
Brayen schenn is a forward. Luke schenn is a defenseman
