Recap: San Diego Gulls vs Ontario Reign, 1.31.26



The San Diego Gulls erased a third-period deficit and rallied for a 4-3 win over the Ontario Reign on Saturday night at Pechanga Arena San Diego, capped by Nathan Gaucher’s go-ahead goal with just 18 seconds remaining.

After trailing 2-1 entering the third, the Gulls came out firing and tied the game early when Tyson Hinds scored at 4:19, his second of the season. Ontario briefly reclaimed the lead at 5:34, but San Diego answered again midway through the period as Ryan Carpenter finished a feed from Tristan Luneau to even the score at 3-3.

With the clock winding down, the Gulls completed the comeback. Gaucher buried the game-winner with 17.2 seconds remaining on the clock, finishing a late push that saw San Diego dominate the third period, outshooting Ontario 19-2.

Judd Caulfield opened the scoring for the Gulls in the second period and finished the night with three points (1 goal, 2 assists). Hinds added a goal and an assist, while Gaucher recorded a goal and an assist and was named the game’s first star.

San Diego outshot Ontario 39-19 overall and earned their second straight win.
