I'm BEGGING Darche not to trade for Garland. His production is underwhelming. He's having a bad year even by his mediocre standards. He turns 30 years old next week. He's signed to a 6 year extension at $6M per season plus a full NMC for a player that occasionally gets 20 goals a year. Conor Garland is a third line player and we've got PLENTY of those already. Lastly, ask yourself why would a team look to trade (dump) a player that they just gave a contract extension to?
On a team full of "guys" Garland would just be another "guy" in a long term unmovable contract. If we signed him for 6/6 in the off season I wouldn't love it, but at least it wouldn't cost assets. Not sure they have any interest in taking on someone like Drouin or Engval

We let Murphy Myers all these defenseman get traded for fourth rounders and we got Saucy. Garland sucks. I rather johnathan Druen over Garland. It’s so sad the islanders are willing to go for 3rd liners like crazy. I can’t believe Matt is willing to take Garland.
Don’t forget, we have to pay Schaefer in 2 years. That’s going to be $15 million plus. Garland won’t push this team into the second round. Matter of fact I have the islanders out of the playoffs bye the end of March
So the two questions you are supposed to ask yourself if you are a GM:
Does acquiring this player improve my team? In this case the answer is…No…not really. Is this player being traded because he would be happier and by extension play better somewhere else or is his contract better on another teams books? His contract is better on another teams books.
