Big faceoff in OT on the penalty kill, Larkin wins it and Albert Johansson gets it in the corner and fails to clear it leading to a Vegas possession and winning in OT. Tragic
This is a Wings team that only has a few of its players who actually put an effort, and the rest of the roster just puts on the jersey. This is the truth. There's no reason why McClellan has to babysit coach these guys when they're playing like amateurs. John Gibson breaks his behind when he's in there. If Talbot has an average defense, he wouldn't be bombarded in the dzone, but since the Wings are loaded with amateurs throughout their lineup, with the exception of those who actually show up to play, that is the low bar quality you end up playing with. Vegas has a substandard lineup at best, an evidenced in this game, and the Wings couldn't put 'em away. I'm actually tired of seeing players on the Wings, getting paid millions of dollars in a season, and they're barely showing up. It's not about just making the playoffs, these guys, with the exception of a few who show up, are prima donnas. Where are the role players and why aren't they stepping up? I don't think Seider should where the A anymore, and if Raymond doesn't get with the program, he shouldn't have it on his jersey either. A team can't rely on just a goalie having a phenomenal night. This team does it more than often, and then they'll be interviewed and say they stepped off the gas and didn't do what they were supposed to do to win. So, they're admitting that they're messing up and not giving their best? Sounds like it to me. This is what they always do when they think they have a game in the win column before the opposing team finds a way to make the Wings lose. All the opposing team needs to do is challenge the Wings in the 3rd period, and unless John Gibson is in net, the Wings will lose every time. They deserved to lose this game, not to even get a point out of it. If I was McClellan, I'd tell those players, who are supposed to be role models and making several million a year, to play like professionals or find another job. I don't care about Seider's 40 minutes a game on the ice or Raymond's projected stats, if these guys don't show up on the ice, they should find new jobs in the private sector, or better yet, leave the US and get a job in their home country. They can barely score in regulation, which puts a lot of pressure on a goaltender. At what point is Yzerman going to realize you need a legitimate enforcer to protect your star players? So sick of watching Larkin get targeted and crosschecked in the back, soft GM and soft team because of it
