Rory Cochrane what are you on man? Why would colorado trade one of its best up and coming centers in newhook along with a puck moving cost controlled defensman for the likes of bo Horvat? Who they can't afford to re-sign in the offseason. They could just as easily keep newhook and Girard for a playoff run while going out and picking up Jonathan Toews for a 2nd and 3rd rounder and they'd throw in jack jhonson too for defensive depth. Merkely doesn't do anything now for colorado. He is a project player that will benefit from being coached by Greg Cronin in the eagles organization who promotes the same style of play the avs play. They already have Sam Girards replacement in Sean Bahrens who will be a 3 year ELC puck moving defenseman that they drag and drop in the lineup.
