Gonna be honest with you here DK, we didnt get goalied in my opinion. The stats may show we "outshot" but via natural stat trick we had less scoring chances and high danger scoring chances. My opinion is we got face'offed, and also kevin hayes played like a snail on the ice with lackluster hands, which he isnt known for having, the kevin hayes statistic of being negative on the win collumn with him in the lineup not only has to deal with the injuries he replaces, but the lackluster play. Its the effect he has slowing down the line hes on, or maybe the lack of being able to keep possession as we saw this game.
The whole gang just looked slow.
Face offs looked terrible and Kevin Hayes is a slouch
The Pens can’t beat Boston for some reason. It goes way back! Hopefully if they get very far in the playoffs they won’t have to play each other .
Lets stop playing games and get broz in if lizzotte is hurt for any time. Maybe even swap a. Hayes for villie (ahl player of the month). Idk but k. Hayes is not the answer even in the short term.
They will get the next one. Karlsson is impressing me this season.. He can really move the puck up into the Ozone and make a great play happen..
I believe we need to go out and get another center since someone had to go to the Olympics and get hurt and can’t play. The team has been let down by all of this . If you play professionally for money for a team, maybe that should be first priority not some dumb Olympic game. My opinion means nothing anyway. So someone get out the flak guns and shoot down an opinion!
Due to Sid’s injury it’s in the penguins best interest to go all out on a trade. Girard,Kevin Hayes and one of the 2nd round futures could bring home a great center. Statistically Kevin Hayes is a good player but he doesn’t fit anywhere within our scheme especially between 2 big slow guys with himself being another big slow guy. Girard has disappointed me. Bring back Solovyov.
"you can go just to YouTube" Sadly, can't when I'm at work..
A replacement center is looking pretty good right now
Boston also got a little help from the referees with several penalties that should've been called that weren't including a cross check right in front of three referees
DK – Building on today's question… Why isn't the player with by far the best shot on the team no on the 1st PP unit? Mantha is the obvious player to swap out.
How did Kevin Hayes do? He was terrible.is your hype about the guy still the same.
Maybe time to send A Hayes back down
Sorry Dan, no excuses here and I agree with the coach. Where was the lesson learned when they last played at TD Garden with Skinner in net and lost 1-0 with the Bruins playing the same clogging game in the neutral zone after the 1-0 lead. The reality that we are not talking about is that for some reason, the Penguins go into a scoring paralysis when they play Boston and history has shown it. except when Mario was around and he crucified them in the playoffs and regular season.
Need Trocheck !!
86, I am Hines
I was very disappointed that Crosby elected to play in the Olympics and jeopardize thre position of the team AND fans that pay him.
It was a great game for the pens… we need the adversity to get better. Get that hunger in the stomach. That Compete.
So funny DK, it should be a positive lesson for YOU….wasn't it just yesterday you asked "Why not Kevin Hayes?"…well, your question was answered last night…K. Hayes is no longer fast enough to play NHL hockey…he needs to sit…great guy, good locker presence, but that shouldn't get you in the line-up during a playoff run…Dan Muse agrees, only playing him 8 mins last night…bring up Broz, and if not, McGroarity, but Kevin Hayes should be done here in Pittsburgh
Thank you DK. When they play the Bruins, they don't win. I think the Penguins can win. It's the harder part of the stretch. Great stuff DK
I find it hilarious that people begrudge Sid for going to the Olympics. Are you for real? Are you a hockey fan and/or a fan of 87? Even if it was wrong for him to go — which is not my position at all — surely he's earned EVERY right to pursue a medal after all he's done for the Penguins. He could've been the highest paid player in the NHL, but stayed here. And he quickly settled on 8.7M … Dubas would have paid him a good deal more if need be and other teams much more so. Give it a rest and respect Sid.. or complain about the "stupid Olympics" that mattered to him.
In Skinner’s defence, those were two legit goals. The first is through a heavy screen. The second comes off an unfortunate rebound in traffic, and on that second one Chinakhov is a great player with an elite wrister, but he is just coasting instead of tracking the puck.
The Pens have been 2-8-1 against Boston since the start of the 2022-23 season. All but three of those have been one goal games with a two goal game and two blowouts in the Bruins favor. Sadly, they do tend to get goalied by Boston, except, maybe, the first of these games which was a 6-5 OT loss. They were 1-2-1 against Linus Ullmark, 1-3 against Jeremy Swayman, and 0-3 against Joonas Korpisalo. Nothing against Boston's defensive play, but the goaltending against Pittsburgh has been outstanding.
