  1. I’m with Jamie on this one. Thomas & Kyrou are both really good players but I think St. Louis has realized that they’re not elite enough that they can build around.

  2. Thomas is only considered “second tier” because he has nobody to help him on his line. If he was paired with one or two elite wingers he’d be absolutely in the conversation for top 10 center in the league

  3. The word locally among connected hockey people here is that they think the issue is with this core not taking the steps they were expected to take, so the team is pivoting to a younger core, and Thomas is getting most of the chatter because he's the best player who would return the most assets. Also there is thinking that this core who hasn't got it done needs a shake up, one that shows them almost anyone Could be traded. That said, most here don't Want to trade Thomas. . .unless you get a deal you can't refuse.

  4. The simple answer is Thomas has probably privately asked for a trade out of STL. The Blues technically don't have to trade him but there's a risk there that if the Blues don't comply, he goes public with his demand, fucks up the locker room, and kills any trade leverage the Blues have. You don't build around a guy who doesn't want to be here.
