The Buffalo Sabres should go BIG GAME HUNTING for Justin Faulk or Robert Thomas
With just a few days to go until the NHL trade deadline, there’s a good amount of debate about just how aggressive Jarmo Kekäläinen should be. With a report that they have “kicked the tires” on Blues defenseman Justin Faulk, it’s the first tidbit that makes us think the Sabres could acquire a big fish. Faulk is a top pair defenseman that could give the Sabres a dominant shutdown pairing with Owen Power, but it would likely kick Bo Byram out of the top four.
Plus, Sneaky Joe doubles down on why the Sabres should be all-in for Blues center Robert Thomas, who the Montreal Canadiens are reportedly after. Why should Montreal be in on that idea, but not Buffalo?

Best question is. How do you fit it under cap. Not possible without shipping out a few players. Wish Dibiase would concentrate on reality.

I've been lobbying for Thomas soon after he was a possibility to be traded.This move will be difference of playoff contention and cup contender.. To have that kind of talent down the middle will be dominating.i would be willing to to trade Helenius in a player part of a deal to win now with this group
The Vegas vs playoff teams stat is insane. That’s bad for even a very bad team. And also them not beating a playoff team since November is crazy. Was shocked about those tidbits.

I boo Eichel cause I had a personal off ice incident with him before he was traded. I think he's a p.o.s. and was never happier to see him go. And receive a player of the caliber and character of Tuch.

I think the fans should applaud Eichel for winning the gold for USA. That would be classy. Than sabres can defeat Knights.
But Sabres would need to give up Levi, power , heleniius, ostlund, or Byram…so you won’t have a pairing and linemates you are seeing in your scenarios
Honestly, I'm big on Thomas for two reasons. One…he's really good. Two…it keeps him away from Montreal or Boston for 5 years! Go get him!

Ideal trade would be Norris , Ellis OR Levi and a first round pick for Thomas but I doubt very much that St louis has interest in the injury prone Norris.
Laughton and Foligno for the 4th line might be more playoff relevant and affordable. ♓️
Why? I do not rate Thomas and Faulk is past his sell-by date. He was a great D-man, but years ago.
Thomas is a quality player tho he does have injuries in his history. Rather than upset the offense i think a quality defender is a better move.

Fault, 34yrs old making 6 mil & 1 more yrs on contract dont bother. Byrum & Sammeulson not that far away for new pacts, think of what the asking price will be. Asking price for would include 1st, 2nd rd picks, A prospect& roster player at least. What you gonna do when you are the GM.
