  1. Matthews can no longer score goals. I think his value is lost by not being able to score on wide open chances like with 40 seconds to go in ot last night and in the so

  2. I don't think it's all Matthews. I think the whole team's in on it. Can't build rome in a day woe can't stop a beach. Ball stolars, everybody wants to get rid of him.
And from what I see he's probably the better goalie, but it is what it is

  3. Can’t agree taking a swing this year. They were very fortunate last year with league best goaltending, That aging and slow defense was bound to fall apart. It was a miracle they kept it together last year but again due to goaltending.

  4. No one was hard on Leaf teams with Tucker et al? They were called the Muskoka 5 and ridiculed for 2 years for having NMC in their contracts and were content just coasting and getting paid after not getting over the playoff hump.

  5. at least 2030 Olympics are only 4 years away and NHL World Cup is 2 years away…..and Leaf deep run is 8 years away

  6. There are 2 ways to improve this team – through the draft and with UFAs. There are no UFAs worth getting this year. We don't have a 1st round draft pick until 2028. The team will be worse next year.

  7. There is no need to be hard on this team – they just are not good enough. They don't have the talent to compete with the top half of the league. It has been 10 years of poor asset management and now we are left with only a few star players (not enough) and no assets. If management stayed the course and didn't trade off any first round picks, the window would be wider to compete. But they didn't, they traded off picks and prospects and overpaid for second tier players. Team also got screwed by the salary cap constraints at the worst possible time – creating the "core 4" when we needed 2 or 3 more top calibre players, but couldn't afford to keep them at that time.

  8. Where would this team be if they kept last seasons group together and kept marner … not out of playoffs that’s for sure

  9. Clean house all the way to the top… and can we start drafting and developing a little more

  10. What is the organizations priority? What do the players really want? Stop with the fear mongering!!! You are not helping the problem.

  11. Many say it’s coaching, fire Berube. Well Berube got then farther last year than the popular Keefe ever did. Since Reilly was drafted Berube is the Leafs 6th coach and Mathews, Nylander’s 5th, so it ain’t coaching that’s the problem. The Leafs will never win with Reilly, Mathews or Nylander. Reilly is -41 and still makes rookie mistakes, Nylander’s in the top 5 for breakaways because he’s the shits in his own D end. Then there’s Mathews the softest 6’4 230lb Leafs Center in like, ever. So the team has stopped playing for the coach so fire him. I’ll tell you why you don’t fire Berube. All the Leafs have to do is get in the bottom 10 and they’re in the Lottery where anything could happen, maybe even the 5th pick which would be theirs, BUT if you fire Berube now you can be guaranteed they’ll win just enough to Not end up in the bottom 10.

  12. I just looked up Mathews stats. Unbelievable. All that talent and no heart.I hate to say it but the leafs really missed Marner's 100 points.
