​During the massive Canada vs. Switzerland showdown, Swiss star Timo Meier lined up the best player in the world, Connor McDavid, for a thundering hit along the boards. This wasn’t just any check—it was personal. Earlier in the game, McDavid had actually laid a huge hit on Switzerland’s Andrea Glauser, and it looks like Meier was determined to get some revenge.
For those new to hockey, a “hit” or a “check” is when one player uses their body to knock an opponent off the puck. While McDavid is known for his insane speed and scoring, it’s rare to see him on the receiving end of a hit this big. Timo Meier (who plays for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL) caught the Canadian captain perfectly, sending a massive roar through the Swiss fans in attendance.
