  1. This time last year, I'd consider crossing the border, but not this year or the foreseeable future. Facetime?

  2. What's the rush. Montreal should keep their ear to the ground for an opportunity but don't give up what's working. We need to wait till the year is over and look at the holes. If we can fill holes in time with up-and-coming talent. Wait for it to happen.

I would look to replace Dobson. His acquisition was a mistake. He hasn't become what the Canadians need and don't see any hockey intelligent in the guy. Making him a winger and getting a better defenceman would be better than having him on defence. I don't understand how this guy ever became a defenceman. Always in the wrong place. Can't clear the front of the net and attacking offence can easily get around him.

  3. I wouldn’t touch the team. Kapanen is having a very good rookie year. He is only going to get better. Hage is coming in a year or two.

  4. As much as we need a 2nd line center, I don't believe that right now is the time to spend the prospect bank or draft picks to get one, unless, like you mentioned it's someone you just can't say no to! ie: Tage Tompson or someone like that. Although Tage Tompson would not be available for a trade i'm sure, unless the brass in Buffalo completely lost their minds!

  5. I would kinda like if they do nothing besides maybe moving Laine, for both sake, he needs to play and the habs don’t have the right spot for him.
I believe the market will be expensive because of how close it is.
The Habs have proved me they can compete, they might go shakey, but all that matters is who win, they showed us they can, I would respect it they do nothing, but Kent can cook us a miracle all he want tho. Go Habs Go

  6. I'd rather they address other weak spots than the 2C this year. It's reasonable to think that by this time next year they will mostly know if Hage will be the next 2C or not assuming he comes over this April. Yeah I get that it will take some time for Hage to properly fill that role but using the assets somewhere else and having him cost controlled for a few years is worth the wait IMO.

  7. You guys never speak about Oliver Kapanen, this kid has done the job, he is young, responsible at both ends, never injured, this guys need to be talk about.

  8. I think most fans are comfy with this lineup,&can wait for 2 more years with these guys…Where would Thomas play on the power play?

  9. In acquiring Thomas or not, Hughes and Gorton are demonstrating their belief in this team to succeed right now.i love Thomas but can’t help but think it’s too early and don’t want the rebuild to falter because we got impatient l8ke Ottawa.

  10. We don't need to make any major changes. I think the Habs management want to see what their prospects are going to become. They have some very good prospects that I think will be superstars.

Alexander Zharovsky. He is playing centre in UFA. He is going to break Demidov's rookie record and probably the U20 scoring record. We will have to see about that last one. He has potential superstar written all over him.

Michael Hage. Not completely sold if he will be our future centreman. D'Amico from Starr and D'Amico podcast reports that Hage only takes about 5 or 6 faceoffs, all on his strong side a game. That is concerning if you want him to be a regular as a 2C. So he may play centreman, or be turned into a winger for the Habs.

Bryce Pickford keeps scoring in the WHL. He is on pace to break the WHL record for most goals for a defenseman. He is a right shooting D, 6'1 190 pounds. If people want the next Dustin Byfuglien, he is the guy. He isn't as tall as Byfuglien, but he scores, he is tough and he fights. He has had Gordie Howe hat tricks. This is what everyone thought Arber could be, but Arber can't skate, Pickford is an excellent mobile skater. The type of player the Habs usually draft.

There are more prospects of course like Fowler and Reinbacher who is having an excellent season and of course Engstrom who is ready to join the club.

  11. I don't get the fascination with Robert Thomas. Especially compared to Nick Suzuki. Robert Thomas is a 0+/- with 0.81 pts per game. Suzuki is a +28 with 1.15 pts per game.

Meanwhile, Thomas is getting $8.125 M/yr, and Suzuki is getting $7.875 M/yr. Trading away a good prospect for Thomas would be a pretty serious mistake if you ask me.

Montreal is the youngest team in the NHL. Age and experience will solve most of whatever problems they have, most of which are defense. Right now, there are only three teams that have scored more goals than the Habs. At the same time, there are only 8 clubs that have allowed more goals than Montreal. Clean up the defense, and you have a team that is a legitimate contender. So, a little better goaltending, and a more experienced defense, and there you go.

  12. Not to worry boys we got great management and sorry to say reporters ain’t in charge of the team hahahah sorry good for you and I love watching but Kent and gorts not gonna bet the house for the now and you guys know this blah blah

  13. I've heard that the rumoured ask is the equivalent of 3 first rounds players/pick in the top 20 for Robert Thomas. If that's the case, it's probably a case of a mix of Michael Hage/David Reinbacher/1st Round pick
