Minnesota Wild shake up their bottom six by claiming Robby Fabbri off waivers and weighing a potential trade for Rangers center Vincent Trocheck. Will these moves be enough to address scoring depth and faceoff woes down the stretch?
Seth Toupal breaks down Fabbri’s fit on the fourth line, what the move signals for Marcus Foligno and Nico Sturm, and the logic behind sending Tyler Pitlick to waivers. The episode tackles Trocheck’s apparent “no West teams” stance, clarifying why Minnesota still sits in the running and what a blockbuster trade could mean for the Wild’s playoff push. Plus, with Jared Spurgeon banged up, should the Wild target a physical depth defenseman at the deadline? Speculation heats up around targets like Luke Schenn and Logan Stanley as the trade market intensifies.
Are the Wild positioning for a deep postseason run, or bracing for more adversity before the NHL trade deadline?

He’s just a Folingo fill, I’m guessing once Folingo comes back from IR, they’ll send him down to Iowa
What’s the rest of the Wild 4th line look like?
I love Deadline week. Fun as hell, especially the day of………..I am OK with picking up Fabbri as a 4th liner. As you said Seth, it costs nothing in terms of picks/prospects, and I believe he makes league minimum……Billy is already active which is a good sign…….I've heard the rumored offer is Strammel and a 2027 1st……….I do that deal in a second and I don't think Trocheck is even that big of a swing…….I agree, find a 3rd pairing D-man that LOVES to hit, because playoffs.
Nothing burger
Fabric is 5 inches shorter and 40 lbs lighter than Foligno. I don't think he'll be replacing what Foligno adds on the 4th line.
Fabbri has been a good defensive forward in his career. There was some skill there too which is why he was a first round pick, has never translated to point production in the NHL tho. His main problem is that he’s incredibly injury prone. His lack of games each season is usually because of injury. He’s not a direct Foligno replacement by any means, but he probably grabs a 4th line spot in a rotation with Vinny and Pitlick while Foligno is out.
