Welcome back to PuckTalk MTL — and this one feels different.
In this episode, Kosta dives into what David Reinbacher’s arrival truly means for the Montreal Canadiens and why this moment could reshape the franchise during the 2026 NHL Playoff Push.
He breaks down Reinbacher’s skill set — mobility, gap control, defensive reads, breakout efficiency, and physical maturity — and how his presence impacts Montreal’s blue line immediately. Does he stabilize defensive pairings? Improve puck transition? Reduce high-danger chances against? We analyze how his game translates to playoff-style hockey and what this means for the Canadiens’ structure moving forward.
This episode also explores lineup implications, defensive hierarchy changes, and how Reinbacher fits into Montreal’s long-term core alongside the team’s emerging leadership group. For Montreal Canadiens fans, this could mark a true turning point in the rebuild.
Is this just a debut — or the start of a defining era on the Habs’ blue line?
If you’re searching for Reinbacher analysis, Habs defensive upgrades, or insight into Montreal’s playoff trajectory, this episode is essential viewing.

It would have be nice if Arber got more time in Laval. But what's done us done and I am glad he's a fan favorite. Reinbacher will displace somebody at some point and needs to get experience at the NHL level. He needs to be brought up for a taste.
Don’t know why they wouldn’t have already brought him up. See how well he handles it and then you could decide if you want to get rid of xhekaj or Strubes easier.
Arber proved his worth last year in the playoffs vs the Caps. Both Struble and Carrier are expendable in my opinion.
Bring him up, he’s a big kid, good in all areas. Sit 45 and 47…play him with 72. …both 6-4 200 Ibs +, size matters.
Absolutely not. This team isn’t mature enough to handle roster changes. It’s plagued them all season.
It’s not that Reinbacher isn’t ready but:
1. You don’t want to change a winning team.
2. You don’t want to bring Reinbacher up with playoff pressure on him.
3. Xhekaj is a fan favorite who is doing fine. Don’t make Reinbacher the bad guy.
So no future for Adam Engstrom on this team? He better than Struble and Xhekaj
He’s not what’s needed!
Playoff hockey is not the ice capades!
They need a physical crease clearing stay at home DMan!
They have too many pt chasers!
(1) There is more to Xhekaj's physical play than fights. (I know you know it, but it is not mentioned here.)
(2) I would like to see Reinbacher in NHL…no later than next year.
(3) If it is this year, I guess Guhle or Matheson is the #5…below Carrier…hmmmmmmm. That part does not compute.
Doesn't seem like turnovers aren't that important. I saw Matheson make 3 turnovers in an ominous fashion. How does that work? Goose , gander thing?
Pickford will be 20 next season, you're so lame on basic facts.
Good ideas but there is a problem with your thinking. Why do we play Snacks for 24 games only to win 10 and sit a great young goalie. Defence can get better and Rhino might help. But get rid of snacks as he is killing this team.
Hire David Savard to work with Arber and Struble during the season and during the summer. Guhle and Reinbacher could be injury prone? I hope not.
Let him cook another year. Both Struble and Xhekaj still suffer from lack of development in Laval.
You've made a good case…
Robidas is out of his league. Stats don’t lie. 9th in league GA.
