I would keep OEL, Laughton, and McMann. 2-3 year extensions for Scottie and Bobby? IMO.
I like Austin! I liked his game in the Olympic Games. I was routing more for him because he chose to stay in Canada when other Canadian players in the past have chosen to play somewhere else not in Canada for more or less money to be somewhere with no pressure. Mathews should and Brady Tachuck, Sanderson should all get standing ovations because they choose to play in hockey hotbeds. I actually wish he was less selfish at times but that is not the teammate he is built like. His parents did a fantastic job and I hope he plays a long time with the Leafs and they can surround him with more skilled players like William and Johnny. Time to load up the line and pad some stats. No sense blocking any more shots get out of the way and let those goalies do their job. Standing ovations from me when I am watching at home! Start with trading a goalie- Woll, because the Leafs will have to put Hildeby, Woll or Stolarz on waivers next fall. Edmonton, Chicago or SAN Jose would be good candidates for Woll.

I’m totally fine with the leafs getting a 2027 1st for OEL. Future picks matter even if it’s for a trade assets. Especially if we move McMann to Seattle or San Jose for 1st this year. Add that to maybe moving Carlo to Dallas or Aniheim, who both are looking for a right handed defenceman. Carlo I’d be looking for a prospect and 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Let’s draft well, free up cap space and take a hard run at Ontario born Darren Raddysh this off season to shore up our right side and give us (what personally I feel we’ve been dying for) a big shot from the point and puck moving!
I also expect Stolarz to be dealt this offseason and I’m still a huge fan of the trade idea of Stolarz to the flyers for Tippet. Deal makes way to much sense not to happen.
