Bryan Hayes joins SC with Jay Onrait for another edition of Harvey’s Hot Takes, where he gives his thoughts on what Maple Leafs fans should hope Auston Matthews brings back from his Olympic experience, what these excruciating losses are doing to Connor McDavid’s legacy, and how he responds to those who criticize Canadian hockey media in relation to Canadian team success, or lack thereof.

I think McDavid needs to slow things down. He has the hands and the hockey sense like Crosby, Lemieux, and Gretzky, so save the blazing through the neutral zone for special occasions. Not sure what to say, but his legacy is that he's a very skilled, smart player, and the team results are just unfortunate.
Hes the Goat. Thats the story. Stop hating
We understand canada needs someone to blame. Always blame the best player. We get it. But the final play that caused the loss was not mcdavids fault.
His career isnt half over
Slow your roll
Hellebuyck doesnt make a lucky save. All of a sudden mcdavid is a grear leader. Ha
Shut up with BS
Nobody ever said that when Jordan lost to the Pistons in the early years of his NBA career.
Kinda makes you wonder, if the media just spoils players legacies before they even have a chance to build them. 🤷♂️
Did anyone else notice McDavid chumming around with Mitch Marner, as he too has figured the oilers won’t win as structured in goal tending the same as the leafs won’t win as they were structured? Does anyone else think they were talking about going to Vegas for McDavid?
Does anyone think McDavid might’ve asked Mitch what that’s like?
Maybe ask if he’s staying in Vegas and can he come play there?
Ill say it clearly….one McDavid moves…he will win in NHL. Gold is only a matter of time. Remember many of those elimanation games were very close with OT. I got no worries for Canada chances going forward
$Matthews$ is a bum
Covid’s over Hayes , time to go back into work 🤡
Connor McDavid is the First Team Canada Captain to loose Olympic Gold to a USA team in Canadian Olympic history. USA won vs Russia in 1980. McJesus was Captain when he made the moronic 1 on 3 move in OT
nothing will change with matthews , usa got lucky amd they know it
Once bounce the other way and all the armchair experts are declaring McDavid as the best player who ever lived.
Maybe there is a reason Canadian superstars win on American teams, but don’t win in Canadian teams.
Matthews is going to get boo'd by the Toronto "Fans" and he's gona realize he's wasting his career playing up in Canada
If only the people of Canada were so hard on their leaders like they are on their hockey players maybe the country would be in a better place😂🤷♂
He was responsible for the goal USA scored. He wanted played beer league hero.
You guys do know people don't want to play in Canadian cities due to Canadian media right? God forbid we forget that these are actual people you're talking about here
Have you guys ever watched Cup Finals parades? They seem to draw a lot of people across the spectrum, and unless you have attended one it’s pretty absurd to say one city compared to another city will celebrate it or be happier about it. Every city should celebrate, and from the record I think they do and that is good for fans, youth, the cities and the game.
I would think that Bennett, Marchand, Stamkos, Stone, Jonathan Toews, Makar, etc. have been overwhelmed celebrating where they play, and I am guessing their fans are pretty happy to support them regardless of where they play. Otherwise, you would expect Yzerman, Crosby, Lemieux, Roy, Messier would have insisted on only playing in Canada.
Nah… Canadian hockey media is garbage. Theres a reason their best players keep leaving then find success elsewhere 😊
I'm not sure if you guys know this but the Edmonton Oilers beat the LA Kings last night 8-1 so Connor McDavid's is doing PERFECTLY fine ❤😂
Spoiled legacy ?lol hes the best in regular season thats all people care about yall just trying to get him traded
