  1. Imagine hoping people will move on after a symbol of leadership for your city shakes hands with a pedophillic rapist and citizen-murdering fascist. Shame. This is not politics. It's human decency.

  2. It seems like people are caught up in their own opinions and trying to impose them on hockey players that just won the gold medal for their country. The last thing I think about watching hockey is politics. I wish Canada had won, but congrats to team USA on the win. As an Ottawa fan, I want winners on this team, and I love Brady and Sandy.

  3. USA Gold was a rightfully a big deal for those guys. And in a country where you tune into ESPN in February and they are not talking about hockey, getting the chance to be recognized by your country would a great honour and I don’t blame those guys at all for going. And I am no Trump fan. Tjme to move on.

  4. I feel bad for the Gen x and boomer Canadians who have little brother syndrome towards the USA. Nobody cares except for Boomer and Gen x losers, most Canadians actually don't care about Trump at all, we had a tyrannical government force a vaccine on people, we have a government to focuses on the old world than our own citizens and we keep importing millions despite a housing crisis. Most Canadians who are in touch with reality, are more concerned with our own government and its lack of care for our future.

  5. After Tampa wins the cup and Kucherov takes the Stanley Cup to Moscow to celebrate with Putin, you would be OK with that?

  6. Ignorance is such a pathetic excuse. Spend five minutes a week reading a news article. Everyone's lives are busy, athletes shouldn't be above being good citizens.

  7. Who's medal did the orange turd take? He's a felon and destroying the centuries long relationship with the US to line his own pockets. If US and Canadian players support him, fuck'em.

  8. Wally, Graeme, Yorkie, I'm going to add some context here. At a certain stage in politics, no one is exempt. While under normal circumstances, we can leave politics outside of sports, outside of relationships and outside of our general social interactions, there are certain conditions that necessitate everyone's attention to political matters. A NATO ally threatening another NATO ally is one such situation. If anyone is ignorant of that fact, that is on them. Past generations that fought for our sovereignty and our freedoms did not have the luxury of ignoring politics for the benefit or their entertainment. They instead had to go to war, against a fascist, in WW2. The fallout of which, by the way, delivered the cozy world order we've been living under that has created the opportunity for things like the NHL to exist. Now, there is a completely unqualified and nihilistic megalomaniac in charge of the most powerful nation on earth who is undoing that world order. Every, single, inviolable norm and tradition of democratic principal has been violated by donald trump. Every single socially acceptaptable standard of brhavior has been completely subverted by that man. It is, actually and extremely low bar to expect those who we otherwise expect, are decent people, to make it clear they are in opposition to that man. If they do not or are unwilling to do so it is fair to assume they are allied with that worldview, or at the very least, contemptably ignorant. When the stakes are between the country and the shared values enshrined within our sovereignty and hockey, I would choose my country every time. If there are that many trump supporters on this hockey team, then, unfortunately I support not having a hockey team made up of trump supporters even if that makes us less competitive. The entire discussion around this I'd essentially an abdication of civic duty. Yes, it is your civic duty, to stand against the likes of trump. Welcome to the real world where you can't just have your sports freeof politics when your nation is being threatened by a global super power. Its time for everyone to grow up. Expectations have to be higher. This is not a debate about tax policy.

  9. Most of the media are beholden to big money, including gambling. This pod is no exception. Centrism is for cowards. Not a good look fellas. Ill be skipping a few pods till you folks stop acting like small c centralist Gex Xers.

  10. All the nonsense is horseshit.I had a customer bring it up to me in the store today lol. Please people try to separate hockey and the politics.

  11. Backlash my ass lol. They don't care as long as they have the gold medal. The Trump Derangement Syndrome is an epidemic up there with these buffoon media. If Trump said "oxygen is good" I'm sure Canadians would stop breathing.

  12. Losing to the U.S. hurt, but I’m standing by Brady and Jake. I made absolutely sure to keep that tournament and politics separate. Let’s not forget they’re half Canadian, and Brady has an even closer connection with his son being born here in Ottawa

  13. The reality is that the there is a global ideological war going on right now between western values vs an alignment of what I'll simply call 'other'. Those in the other group do not like anyone having an opinion that is not theirs.
Brady can have whatever politics he wants, that's freedom. He's a hockey player, his opinions on borders, presidents, or any of that should not affect his play on the ice.

One thing I know for sure, Brady is an awesome character and we Senators fans are extremely lucky to have him as our captain. Not just for on the ice, but also for off the ice stuff. He's amazing for the community. Let's not ruin that by complaining like asinine idiots about some opinion he has, regardless of whether he actually said it or not. Good lord… grow up people

  14. Remember when someone stood on stage at a rally at MSG at did a Heil salute, and people starting jumping through all sorts of hoops to make the narrative make sense? This feels a bit like that.

  15. If they announce it and congratulate him and Sandy on the US Gold metal you gotta Booooo if you're Canadian!!!! But after that we need to chase a playoff spot.

  16. Turns out some fans are upset that players they cheered for decided to visit, shake hands with and laugh alongside a p*do who has repeatedly threatened our Country’s sovereignty.

Man, I wonder why they’re mad?

  17. As a Canadian, there is a large part of us that are self righteous, holier than thou, insecure and frankly insufferable. We really saw it dominate during the COVID years. It’s a weakness for Canada.

  18. A little interesting seeing Wally bemoan the woke cancel culture that he has participated in. You shouldn't go after Brady for his comments, but oh wow did JR really not wear the pride jersey, what would the gay fans think. We can have disagreements and differing opinions, unless you tweet something negative about women's sports. Then you are exiled and memory-holed.

  19. I enjoy the chit-chat, tolerate the mediocre hockey analysis, but these three are as a dumb as a bag of hammers.

  20. They are just players and don't know they are being used. This is where agents and support network need to tell them.

The White House calls you go. You respect the office. The SOTU, you say thank you but we need to return to our teams. The NHL should be smarter and should have said fellas you are being used as a prop.

Fellas don't try to peel back someones beliefs or support leave it alone. You are getting pulled in.

  21. Wally can you please ask Mr. Jake Sanderson if he had to force the McDonalds down lol. I feel like thats the last thing he would eat, Imagine if Chychy was there lol

  22. I respect and hear what the guys are saying. Lots of yelling no meeting at the dinner table. But political association has never been so far out of the reach to most that they wouldn't have an opinion on it. So Brady does community work ok but that means you know what's going on in your city. Or you're being directed. The issue I have is that some athletes have been given everything but a beer for voicing a political opinion. Russell, Ali, Abdul-Jabbar, Gil Hodges none of them were to fight for country and community without others looking to degrade their quality of lives. Hockey players are insular, tell that to Joel Ward and Wayne Simmons. They weren't allowed to be insular. That's a weak excuse and a cover for selfish mentalities.

  23. I'm not angry just disappointed in the lack of awareness as to why people would be upset. I get they're insulated but at least Jake acknowledged in the media scrum he was ignorant to some of the issues going on. That's all I was looking for, an apology and a concession. Now move on.
