Montreal Canadiens have made Patrik Laine availble to be traded per Pierre Lebrun, and Elliotte Friedman. Is Rasmus Ristolainen an upgrade over Alexandre Carrier for the Canadiens?

  1. We need a starting goaltender. We got sooooo many prospects. GM needs to make a move man. We scored 3 goals… thats usually enough to win in this NHL. Sorry not sorry, get a goalie Habs.

  2. Great deke news ,luv listening to your habs talk, hope the prayer life is going strong.

  3. I feel like the Caufield goal should've counted, it wasn't intentional and he didnt kick it on purpose. The refs screwed this game, and the penalties fucked our team over tonight. I dont blame Monty on the loss, but 4 goals in 26 shots isn't good at all but its the first game back so we need to give this team a break.

  4. The fact that players wants to come to Mtl is a big change from Bergevin, that's for sure.
Different attitude towards our players, different approach. It could pay off in the years to come.
    Our window is barely oppening.

  5. In all fairness Laine was always injured and never really had a chance to get settled in.

  6. I hope after last night game people will stop saying how good slaf is pathetic last night…why don't you talk about msl choices of players he puts out at the end of the game or how dach and newhook are rejects from other teams

  7. PK Subban wasn’t treated well. But I agree. It’s gotten a lot better for players since the Hughes era began.

  8. I truly feel Hughes&Gorton have a good grasp of what this team is missing…however, I do feel (and I've said it before) that MSL's major weakness is his fair/mediorcre coaching regards to team defence and not being a fan or knowing how important having gritty tough players is to a team, esp in the playoffs. IMHO, man-on-man defence is not the way this team should be playing (it is quickly energy draining as can be seen when the team gets pinned down in their zone, and you can see players get confused on the ice occasionally losing their check. Even if it's just for a moment, it gives that opposing player enough time to make a play that usually leads to a goal against). Perfect example is watching Philip Danault…usually a very smart & experienced defensive forward…but apart from his good face-off numbers, he has been struggling with the defensive side since joining this MSL man-on-man team system. This team should be playing a more defensively structured zone defence…but because they attempted this at the beginning of last season and it failed miserably…MSL had to make the change and he hasn't looked back. I don't blame him for his logic as he's trying to take advantage of this team's good skaters and the youth but it's a mistake in the long run. Also I would like to point out Samuel Blais, who Hughes&Gorton obviously like yet he does not get much ice time under MSL and he is basically too strong for the AHL…he is a perfect 4th line guy who you could easily switch higher up in the lineup when you need a good along the boards, big tough puck retriever, front of net disturber, who distributes heavy checks, and can get you the occasional goal…not the fleetest of foot but super experienced, knows his role…a wasted pickup by Mtl if you are not going to use him. And final example, Arber Xhekaj…I'm not saying Arber would be a Top 2 D-man but the skillset he brings a team is invaluable…but again, he is not an MSL kind of player and look at the difference in his play since he first played as a Hab to now under MSL. You know MSL has a certain player bias when you see players like Slaf, Demidov, Caufield, and occasionally Hutson make a poor defensive minded play…are they ever benched, scratched, called out? But if Arber makes a defensive error? If Arber was playing for Washington, Boston, Philly, Dallas…I could almost guarantee his career would have flourished. And it''s a shame. Hey, I may be super wrong (I usually am LOL) but time will tell. As for trade deadline…unless Hughes can pull off his usual savvy transactions, or add some role players to prepare for the rigours of the playoffs…I would not be disappointed if Hughes did very little by trade deadline. I do not want to see them do anything drastic that may be beneficial short term but that hurts them long term. Everything that happens during the regular season means absolutely little if you can't up your level of play in the playoffs…so see what you got, who flounders, who flourishes, who ups their game during playoffs…also, it's a great indicator to management to see what weaknesses you need to address (ie we all saw one area that was weak vs Washington last season). Finally, unless Pascal Vincent gets an NHL head coaching job with another team, he better be promoted to be a new assistant to MSL for next season.
